Default Blew the engine on a 137 shot

Yesterday, I lost the engine at the end of the track. Think I lifted a head. Antifreeze and steam was coming out the tail pipes and it wouldn't start (hydro-locked). I was running a 137 dry shot of nitrous (single .059 jet). My wide band o2 or fuel pressure didn't show any signs of running too lean. To top it off, the tow truck put a nice wide scratch in my front bumper.

My setup consist of a stock 02 WS6 with cat back, maf ends, lid, Walbro 340 in tank, MSD window switch, NOS dry kit (single nozzle in lid), wide band, and fp gauge. Maybe I should of been running a timing tuner to retard the timing.

The only good news is I got my best run ever:
RT - .182
60' - 1.859
1/8 - 8.001 @ 88.04
1/4 - 12.44 @ 112.15
Altitude: 5860 feet
First time ever scoring a 1.8 60'

your not suposed to go above 100 shot dry, you need to make it wet after that, sorry to hear about your engine, did you tear it down yet? check ebay for complete engines or parts

You went lean or had a buttload of timing and bad fuel....What did the wideband read??? 137 shot

I wouldn't think you would have any head gasket problems till ya got to about a 175 or so(wet or dry). I don't think that it would matter much if it was a dry or wet in his case b/c he has a bigger fuel pump. I am having trouble with my fuel pump supplying the fuel for my 150 wet system now.

But good luck with getting it back together...... go ahead and do a forged 346 and put the turbo on it with about 16 psi of boost!

I would be willing to bet there was a failure of something. Maybe injector in a particular cylinder, or a weakness in a piston, ring, improper head gasket install. I cant see any reason why a properly running setup such as yours would do what it did.

I ran a 150 dry on top of heads and cam waay back when for over a year with no problems running 123-124 mph.

I thought the 137 shot would be okay since quite a few are running 150 dry shot with no problems. I know 137 sounds like a weird shot but thats what I calculated when I looked at Colonels jet sizes:
125hp = .055 single jet
150hp = .063 single jet
Wouldn't .059 single jet be 137hp?

My wide band was in the 12's and my FP was about 58. It's difficult to keep an eye on everything. I have a Harlan shift light and the stock rev limiter. My MSD window switch is set between 3k and 6k. I was also running 100 octane. I'm pretty sure timing has something to do with it. Would putting a resister in the IAT sensor so it reads high temps helped? It would of retarded the timing correct?

I had no problems making 10 passes with a 125 dry shot.

For now, I'm going to fix the head gasket (and I hope thats all it is). I have a forged 6.0 being built right now but it won't be done for at least another month.
