i checked it today and my car does about 125ish clutch is bout gone so don't know how close that is ..... so there is no way for me to avoid 5th gear but as hard as 5th pulls i wouldn't want to
god i love these f bodies
god i love these f bodies LOL...no luck about it. Guys this is like anything else in the racing world. There are about 6-7 factors involved.
Timing
size of shot
octane of fuel
Af ratio
load (due to gearing, weight speed)
Compression
Plug heat range
you guys that say that you do it all the time and have no problems obviously hve those parameters in the safe zone. maybe your just spraying a 100 shot (no biggie), maybe you are are spraying a 150 on pump gas with a conservative tune and plenty of timing retard. But when asking the question "is it ok the spray in 5th" some people are thinking 200 shots...or 250 shots or even 300+ shots.
So saying "yeah I do it all the time no problem" is not an answer unless you give the details.
Also....are you just popping it in fifth in the 1/4 for a split second...or are you running out to max RPM in 5th in a top speed run? All of these parameters must be known before you can decide if it will be safe for you to spray in 5th.
