i am having the same problem. it pushes some out of the overflow cap. i think the heads are lifting a little on n2o. cometic told me to have the heads re-torqued. havent had time to get it done yet. let me know what you find out.

It is probably the heads lifting under extreme cylinder pressure. I had a similar issue when I had an LS6 block, studs, cometics, and a 325 rwhp shot. Would push water on the second stage of spray.

Add me to the list. When I jetted up to a 150 shot the heads lifted. I've got stock non-MLS gaskets(ordered the MLS ones ) and ARP head bolts. I'm going to put on some stock MLS gaskets and head studs and try again. I don't see how it could be detonating considering it was rich, running 22-23* timing, and the plugs look great.

Mine is pushing some on a 250 shot right now. I'm gonna retorque the studs and put some Bars-Leak in it and see if that helps.

Mine does the same thing. I'm changing set ups and going with a LSX block and ETP LS7 heads to prevent the problem.

I never had a water pushing problem on my stock ls6 upto 285rwhp shot. On the new 408 I went with the ARP L19 head studs which allow for a greater clamping force, about 40% more than standard ARPs. They are pricey, but I plan on a larger than 300 shot and am trying to minimize potential problems. Stock GM MLS gaskets even on the 408.

DON'T use Bars-Leak....not what its supposed to be used for, it'll just clog up your cooling system. Try new gaskets first.

its a 150 shot. i just checked the pressure on my cap and its not holding and my overflow is full so im going to swap that first then if not ill have to re torque the heads. seems a lot of people are having this issue with the cometic head gasket/ arp head bolt combo. im hoping i dont have to retorque the heads its a pain in the ***.

pull the head and you might find the hot spot on the gasket. i have a feeling you are pushing the head up. it will be plain as day on teh gasket. good luck

Gator thinks it the headgasket. He said you pushed the gasket and to pull the head. Hopefully your not in bad shape. Goodluck bro and hopefully I will see you on the track on the 16th.

EDIT - NVM, gator already responded......

I've seen a "bad" radiator cap cause this before. Make sure you have the proper radiator cap and it's working at it's rated pressure.

Please check this BEFORE assuming you are pushing water and start swapping headgaskets and what not.

Is your over flow full? is the cap wet? Nitrous causes a big change in coolant temp . the gas pressurizes fast from the heat exchange. one key thing is to have your starting temp of the run as low as possible. some guys pull to the line at 180* and by the end of the run itl be 200 and push coolant out. I have told a few guys get to the line 150 and at the end of the run your 180 and they have not pushed a drop. When we are racing we have the fans on full blast as soon as we start the car. Try this and see if it helps.
