taking timing out for big shots
Dry here, it's set-up automatically to pull timing only on spray. I run 28* n/a and 14* with a 300rwhp shot, never have to worry about something switching this or that, as it's software based and never fails, and is auotmatic when ever spray is applied.

timing tuner or the MSD timing twister is going to be the easiest way for you. Unless you have advanced knowledge of tuning or acces to it and wie up something like the ECT or IAt switch method

I have used it. The only time I had an issue with it was when my crank signal was weak due to a bad thrust bearing causing the reluctor to walk away from the sensor. It would do crazy stuff.

Another way for wet or dry is the EFI COS 5. So, if ya are going to get a tuner program this one has a dedicated timing map and fuel map that is switchable. The above method works only for dry hits and all the other tuner programs can be set up with said method. In the wiring sticky, the resitor method Al mentioned is covered, and works on wet and dry, as oes the the timing tuner. The reason I mentioned the dry was your intro asked for timing pull on big hits, and many will check this thread out for info.

I have written custom software for 2-step controller that allows me to take out up to 10* of timing at 3,000 RPM and above. I may be able to go more I just have not tried it yet. I have a new fuel pump to install before I get too carried away. I have pushed the limits of many stock motorcycles(factory pistons, crank assembly) but never on my car. I have added up to 80% more hp on a stock motorcycle engine by keeping it rich and pulling timing.
I am hoping I can get away with this on my LS1. I guess if I grenade the LS1 a LS7 with forged pistons will be next
