THis was in interesting thread. I have a 408(Iron) with a direct port system that I have not sprayed yet. I want to hit it with a max of 300 with the spray. I will be using a progressive controller and I have the ARP head studs. My comp. ratio is 11.3/1 and I will have a stand alone fuel system. I hope and pray that everything hold up. I will start of with 100 and work my way up.

It should be ok but like everyone said, start out small, 100 shot, and work up. I would have a wide band O2 to watch your air/fuel and something to monitor the knock sensor. Keep going up until it knocks or you can't get the air/fuel right.

Throwing 200 shot jets in there to start is a bad idea, you have no idea if the shot will be rich or lean, to lean and bye bye!

You will need to pull timing also, either a timing tuner or run less timing all of the time.

Yeah I plan on buying a timing tuner. I have another question. When it comes to the tune, will SD be better than the MAF regarding tuning? I have been told that the MAF is only good to about 600rwhp and I SHOULD be well above that. If SD is the best tune does anybody have any suggestions on where to go. THe tune is the most important to me and I am willing to go JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE to get it done RIGHT.

I can't help you on where to go because my guy is here in NC. He does SD for the larger HP cars. I am guessing you are pretty close to being right on the MAF not being able to support the power.

One thing I learned while melting many of pistons, is do not rely on any monitoring but plug chops. Once you have your set up dialed in, a good wide band is a great reference point, but until then READ YOUR PLUGS!

Make sure you flow your nitrous set up too. Use a 73 NOS jet for flowing. Write everything down, and tune based upon that.

A rich motor will kill the rings as fast as a lean motor will claim a piston or plug. The only "safe" tune is the right tune. If you can tune your timing and fuel at the track as you up the shot and do plug chops or use a 10x otoscope you should be fine. 300 shot on a direct port is not that bad to tune, especially if you are careful, and take your time.

Ah, since you intend on upping to the 275, we'll just act like this never even happened
