Default Nitrous Cleans Engine?

Quick Question:

Someone told me that nitrous actually helps clean out a motor (stuff like built up carbon). That when torn down a nitrous motor will look cleaner than one w/o nitrous.

Any truth to this?
If I put a 75 shot on my 103,XXX motor will it help 'clean' it?

Ive heard this before too, but I kinda pass it off. Ever heard the one about how every time you use nitrous its like putting 10k miles on your car?

I would use nitrous as an engine cleaner, I use Seafoam for that.

it actually does help "clean" the motor out, it loosens the carbon buildup but seafoam does a better job.

nitrous does NOT put 10,000 miles on ur car, I've heard that one too and that's just effin stupid.

For seafoam I always just put one can in the gas, and I'll also get the car up to temp. pull a vacuum hose and let it suck some into the intake until it start stumbling real bad then shut it off. Let it set for 15-20 minutes then, fire it back up and run it out of the intake. Enjoy the smoke show as well.

I know that if you just purge (a little tap) the nos system to the motor, right after your burn out , it cleans the plugs of the carbon . If your looking to get the most out of a big 200 shot or more , this might help for a tenth. A 75shot might not be worth it. IMO

to much purge and your clean plugs will be toast.

Never heard of the idea of N2O cleaning the engine, but I guess I'll send a lil purge through the motor from now on

Yeah at one point in my life I heard the increased cylinder pressure from the spray would help reseal your piston rings. Always wondered after hearing that? Now I hear about how it loosens up carbon buildup, thats neat. Something tells me the rings part is a load of crap though?

When i said learn i meant about the SEAfoam thx, i will try it .

Just TAP your purge after i your N/A burn out (into the motor), to clean your plugs of any carbon. It might help , when your looking to get all you can. Old school guys at Etown told me this little secret . Let me know what you guys think. Some say yeah & some no. I think the bigger shot it helps. IMO

you should NOT be purging into your motor period... really really bad idea.

Rev the engine a couple times after your burnout and that will clean the plugs off fine. Anyone telling you to purge into the intake is trying to get you to hurt the car and is an idiot.

As for nitrous cleaning an engine, I don't think it will "clean" anything, the added heat/pressure might loosen some debris up, but I don't think I would go spraying the hell out of everything with 100K or more on it to clean it out LOL.

Seafoam it if you want to, but nitrous as a cleaner, no.

I looked online, and N20 is an oxidizer, just like peroxide and bleach. Most toilet bowl cleaners are also oxidizers. Like you said- the added heat and pressure would also expell coarbo, etc.

A funny thing was that a German "high-altitude" Fighter used NITROUS in it's Mercedes Benz engine (along with Methanol Injection) to outrun American P-51 "Mustangs" during WW2!

Now Mustangs have to spray just to keep up with everyone.. even Supercharged!

History does repeat....

You ever been to an outlaw 10.5 race???? I think every outlaw car I have seen purges the nitrous into the motor. They DO say it cleans the plugs off and if they don't do it, the car will spit and sputter off the line. I purge both stages through my motor. 1 at a time and then both together. Hold the RPMs up to around 3500 and hit the motor purge button. All it does it rev the motor up slightley. Now when the outlaw guys do it with all the 3 stages on, it sounds like a bomb went off and everyone tends to get out of the way. LOL

Also depends on what plugs you are running.

guess who I am not saying they don't... but I would never do that. Those outlaw guys blow stuff up a little too often for me to want to do everything that they do, this is one of them that I am not about to start doing.
