Default is a nitrous cam that much better??

We put a nitrous cam in my buddys ls1 and it got me thinking. Are they really work that good? Lets put it this way....

car A= bolt-ons with a nitrous cam
car B= bolt-ons with a ms4 cam

Now with car B having a motor cam it SHOULD be faster then the car with a nitrous cam, just saying. Then you add lets say a 125 shot to each car. Now car B should be faster on motor so in theory it should be faster then car A. But with car A having a nitrous cam, does it make a lot better power on spray compared to the ms4? I know its kinda a weird question but its 10 deg. here in Chicago and im board, lol. Sorry.

Nitrous cams are specific grinds to maximize gains "on" the bottle. Usually around 114 lobes.

Cam to cam motor only the motor grind will spank down on a nitrous grind cam.

On the bottle we went almost 0.4 faster.

On motor we had a 106 lobe, on the nitrous it was a 114.

I think the specs were 270/284 @ .050 114 lobe.

I believe, unless its a good size shot, and you like the way your NA cam preforms, it's not really worth it. I don't think a 125 shot qualifies for a nitrous cam swap. Just my opinion of coarse.

I agree, unless NHRA bound or going real big, don't worry about dedicated nitrous cam. Use your n/a cam and if ya feel your loosing a couple hp while spraying, just put a bigger jet in, see the point.

The quickest cam only nitrous cars I've seen around here run nitrous grind cams.....It seems as though the motor cam guys on 150-175 usually run 10.8's or so, but deeper 11's on motor....and the nitrous cam guys are running 10.5's-10.6's but rather high 11's on motor...
