Timing/ring end gap question.
My question is. Can I leave the timing down around the 24* mark and run a 150 shot. I am looking at a TNT kit. I don't want to kill my timing on the street in N/A form. It is a rare occasion that I will hit the bottle on the street, but you never know when you will need it. The car is 6*+ away from detonation so I don't think there will be a problem but I am obviously not sure.
Second question. I have my top ring gapped at .0018" and my second ring at .0014" on a 3.905" bore which is a little over .00046" per inch on the top ring and .00036 on the second ring. Are these gaps large enough for a small shot? I would like to eventually like to step up to a 250 shot and run liter bikes.
Timing is not set by having the most until KR, it's till max power and no more, at least n/a. On the spray it's a whole different world. In my web under timing pull I explain why timing needs to be pulled on the spray. Safety and to make the n2o work as it should. A couple degrees missing and i gurantee you'll never feel or notice a difference, but it may save your motor, as 600+ rwhp is making some high cylinder pressures.
Going much past 200/250 and ring gap should be a little looser, but you may be fine. For example, my 408 has a .028 top ring, and a .021 2nd ring gap. Good luck and let me know if you would like to go on the Z06 fast list, as you have a stellar run so far, congrats.
