Best pistons for 250 shot?
#2
The product info on all pistons say that they are suited for nitrous but the mahle's and Diamond's say small nitrous applications. The Wiseco's and the JE's just ay suited for nitrous. But no one has a designated nitrous piston below 13:1 compression, And Im trying to stay in the high 11.5:1-to low 12:1 compression area. Which the 4 above all are.

I believe with a 59-62cc combustion chamber and the flat top pistons I could achieve 11.5-12.0:1 compression. I have used a few calculators as well as spoke to people with the pistons. Ive done my research on the pistons I just need to know which ones are better in the publics opinion. I am dead serious about not blowing this motor up and I want everything to be right.

Understand that you'll only be able to spray so much before lifting the heads will be a concern, etc.etc. That being said, you also need to work your way up to it, not just put a 300 to it and see what happens.
Personally I would put a set of coated gas ported diamond pistons in it with a recessed top ring land.

If going 300 or behond you can minimize the lifting of heads issue. How? Run the ARP L19 head studs; they have 40% more clamping force over standard ARP head studs. Expensive, but well worth it imo. Some guys live a nice long life at 300 without lifting of heads. Myself, I haven't got a truck load of 300hp runs, but so far with the L19s and good tune, no problems.
