I'm currently running a 125 dry shot (2 x 38)and I'm looking to go higher. What is the limiting factor in a 5177 kit? In other words, at what point does the jet size not become a factor and the size of the solenoids-bottle valve-etc become the restriction.
Just so you know, I'm running a Walboro pump and 44lb injectors with LS-1 edit tuning. On my 125 shot, fuel pressure is solid, only 72% injector duty cycle and no KR.
Thanks!

That's what I was hoping as I'm getting ready to upgrade my noids for progressive use!
What are the lines and bottle valves good to?
Thanks!

On my bolt-on car with no jets in the solenoids I made 144 rwhp and 225 rwtq. The limiter is the Powershot solenoids, they are REALLY small.

I think the superhighflow valve that come with the LS1 kit can support crazy HP #s...like 500 hp.
I think the -4 line is only good to around ~300 though.

The Super High Flow valve will support around 800HP given you have enough bottle. A 4AN line will support 250HP. A standard High Flow valve will only support 400HP.

What kind of pressure were you running? My dyno was with a K&N, cut-out, and 1200 psi bottle pressure. That's ALL the mods, through stock manifolds and cats even!

That is fwhp. There is some margin of eror. The longer the line the less it would flow. And if the line was only a foot long it would flow more than 400hp. The -6 has about the same limits as the SHF valve about 800hp. Bottle pressure is important. It needs to be about 950psi. Anything over 1050psi and it is no longer a liquid and it's density drops dramatically. Now the smaller 1 1/2 guages they can be off by as much as 100psi so 1100psi in reality is 1000psi. Plus the higher the pressure you start with the more pressure drop you will have.

My bottle pressure is never very high. Maybe 900 max. I have a bottle heater, but I don't use it for fear of overpressurizing the bottle. I don't have a guage. I still don't see the difference between 900 and 1200 being worth 70 hp and 75 ftlbs at the wheels. Although, weirder **** has happened. What were your dyno numbers on the bottle anyway?

With only those mods I made 454 rwhp and 547 rwtq.

How is it a Powershot solenoid can flow 175 horsepower with that little tiny orfice (.076 I think) but a -4 AN can only flow 250 horsepower? Is it just because of the line length? I would think that the line is SO much bigger it would at least flow a good bit more than that if you can keep a somewhat constant bottle pressure. Just seems weird to me, that's all. Thanks for the info!

It has to do with the length. The longer the line the more friction to flow you have which equals less flow. here is an example:
6' of -6 line flows .82lbs/sec
6' of -8 line flows .95lbs/sec
14' of -4 line flows .28lbs/sec
The most restrictive part of any line is the insert. On a -3 line the ID of the line may tbe .125" but the ID of the insert is only about .085". Because the super power shot solenoids so close to the plate/nozzle the .072 orifice is not a major restriction up to 175hp. Now if you put the solenoid at the back by the bottle than yes it wouldn't flow anywhere near 175hp. I hope that all made sense if you have any other questions just let me know.

I have been spraying a no jet shot (powershot solenoid) on 100 octane on a bone bone bone stock 2002 car, not one mod. I use a small 2.5# bottle and I was right next to my friends new 600 cc bike from 50-90, he was REALLY surprised since he tried to steal the hit on me too. LS1's on 100 octane LOVE nitrous apparently
