New times on a 100 shot

New times on a 100 shot
I also posted this on the Drag Section. But had to share it with the Nitrous brothers.
Stock engine, almost every bolt on. Weight is 3650 . You'd have to go to my shitty web page for all my mods.
Previous best: 11.73 1/4, 112+mph, 1.59 60' 100 shot, 22.5-23 degrees of timing, good 02#.
I posted a couple of questions on this forum over the last couple of weeks: 1) how to increase stock timing without a computer mod? 2) and an O2 problem
Well I fixed the O2s - intake was a tad loose; No one could tell me how to increase my 22.5-23 degrees of timing.
In the process of fixing the intake a bolt was snapped off. Since I had to take the intake off to fix this problem, I decided to put on a new LS6 intake and a Thunderracing lid.
This was the best and the worst weekend of the year. Worst I only won one round on both days - rained out after the first round every day this weekend.
BEST Total Run:
60' - 1.52
1/8 - 7.295
MPH - 94.563
1000'-9.461
1/4 - 11.384
MPH - 118.245
On just a 100 shot; I did A-tap it. O2's .915-.935 (a little rich but I couldn't care, safe it better); but the timing had gone up to 25.5-26.5. The only change was the LS6 intake and lid. All my runs ranged from slowest of 118 (on the 11.384 run) to a high of 124.1; 60's were steady at 1.50-1.54. And by the way we had the worst air of the year steady at 4,800'+. A drop of .4 in the 1/4 and an increase of almost 11 mph.
This nitrous **** is really habit forming . I basically went through 2 15-lb bottle this weekend
Our track only runs every other weekend - maybe its time for a road trip south.

Re: New times on a 100 shot
Odd isn't the word for it. I about **** when I seen the 1st slip. Thought it was a fluke or the track MPH was off. I did ask around, everyone else said they were running about the same MPH as before. Well have 10 runs all from 118-124 (only 1 at 118 and 1 at 117, the rest at 123-124). I was a believer. You should have seen the look on all these built up car as I flew by them . Most of them run mid 11's at 114-115. Who knew, 124.182 ????

Re: New times on a 100 shot
You make me SICK!!!!!!!! d@mnit! I can't get over 115 mph even on a 150 shot(which actually went slower than the 100 but 1 mph faster). I guess I need to borrow my buddies a-tap and keep it over for about a week or 2 and see if I can't find something wrong.

OHHH Congrats!!!

As in my post, the only difference was actually the timing. From 22.5-23 to a new 25.5+. Was it actually the new LS6 intake? I have no idea. But I can't believe it was the new lid (I have run an MTI lid for the last 3 years, it just broke so bought one from Thunder Racing - same design just fit better).
Good luck guy.

Re: New times on a 100 shot
Josh S-I feel your pain still. I am fighting the 115 mph wall still myself.
I even bought a new Nitrous solenoid (bigger than the super power shot that came with the 5177 kit) got Cheater noid good to 350 hp i think. still no mph increase.
Please if you ever get yours figured out let me know what it is that is holding your mph down,i will do the same for you.

Re: New times on a 100 shot
You guys and all your mods...sheesh. Kids these days. :p All you need is a 150 shot and a lid and catback to do mid 11's at over 120mph. Right Dave?
BTW, very nice runs Navy Dave.

Thanks unit213. But kid? I am 53 years old. Just act like a kid. Single Dad, raised 2 kids, now its my turn
You can go to my site. I believe I have about every bolt on possible. Suspension is a big key to getting the 1.50 60' time. Air flow, timing and power for the times and mph. This has been a 3 year gradual build up. A true labor of love.

Re: New times on a 100 shot
The grill is from RK Sports.
The SS was lower, but the duals has made me raise it up some. Still running the race springs from Ground-Control. I am running QA1 (Hals) in front now. Because of the 28" tires I cut the stock springs and am running them for now.
Just added a new picture from a race on the 4th. It really shows off the grill. I know most people take it off for weight reduction but I love that grill.
