Dumb question but does anyone run any kind of oil lubricant in along with there oil to protect your motor from spray or should I say insurance or is it worth it.

None of them really do anything to help protect your oil or or your motor..... all contain friction modifiers and viscosity index improvers which any name brand oil already has. And in theory the added additives could react with your existing oil additive package that could affect your oild lifespan and its ability to protect and lubricate? Just run a quality name brand oil and forget the witch doctor stuff, save the five bucks for 1.5 gallons of gas.
Personally I wouldn't bother with any of that. I'd definately change the oil much more often on a car you're spraying, that way you can keep track of what's going on inside the motor, if something starts to go the earlier you catch it the less damage that occurs.
That being said, I change my oil after every track trip, wether I make one run or 8. I don't run a synthetic oil either, strait dino stuff. Track only car, but if I were driving it on the street, I'd do the same, I'd just change it every 1000 miles. For the cost of an oil change, it's cheap insurance, and I can keep an eye on what's going on in there. When changing the oil, I let the oil run out over a coffee filter as it's draining, this way if ther'es anything in there that shouldn't be I will have a chance to see/grab it.
Seems like total overkill, but if you spend 10+ grand building a motor, you'll do the same thing.

Not necesarily "LYING" just change your oil, some things such as some rear ends and trannys NEED friction modifiers to function properly such as some lsd's and trannys. The hype is what it is hype. Oil technically never breaks down or looses its viscosity, just gets dirty and some of its additives become less effective. Oil is just refined "cleaned" then its brand new. Change it regularly and thats that. Anything easy or to good to be true usually is. some people would be amazed at the miniscule amount of clearance there is between bearings and the crank while they are at 8000 rpms or jsut wake up in the morning hop in the car and floor it. Oil is important but just like working out there is no easy way around it, deep down you know waht has to be done to get the results you want. In this case... CHANGE YOUR FREAKEN OIL AND FILTER!

Do yourself a favor and go take a look at the site under "additives" with pics of the foaming mess the additives create.

This is one of the reasons why I run straight Mobile 1 and no additives. The "big boys" like top fuelers etc., will run the Lucas decals or anything else they get paid to put on the side of the cars. Certainly does NOT mean they use it in their $$$$$$$$ engines. . .
