Question 12.9-1 Comp. w/ 150 shot is it safe

I have a 383 Lt1 with12.9-1 static comp. And 9.6-1 dynamic comp. I have cometic head gaskets and ARP bolts. The cam is a cc306. I am runnig VP race fuel street blaze 101 it is unleaded. Will a 150 shot be safe on this as long as I am running the race fuel. I have had detonation problems before which killed some head gaskets . The engine had a .064 head gasket on it and after some research I found that I had the quinch at about .074 which I was told would have caused my problem. So have I fixed my problem . AM I safe. BTW I am ronning TR6 plugs and the head gaskets are .030. Any help will be appreciated. Also I was only running pump gas before.

Depending on timing and air fuel ratio I see no reason why you should have an issue.

I ran a 200 shot on 12.2scr with .030 quench...I was pulling 8* for the 200 shot with an 11.5 air fuel ratio, on TR6 plugs. Fuel was 93 in the main tank and C16 in the nitrous dedicated fuel system.

I will be spraying a 200 shot on my 12.8:1 compression. Just run good gas and watch that AFR.

I would put a little better fuel then that in there, get some 112 or 114 and run that. I'd also get some #7 plugs for the first run, and at the end of the run shut the engine off and stop the car on the return road, and pull a couple plugs, whichever tend to run the leanest and check them. If all looks good, maybe try going back to the #6 heat range, but personally I'd leave the colder plug in. Noone ever blew anythign up from a too cold a lug, worst that will happen is the car might foul them out and idle like ****. Way less pain changing some plugs then headgaskets/motor. Maybe not drive around on them, warm the car up on the #6 and change to the #7's when you're racing the car, then change back to the #6.

Personally I'm running a 13.5 to 1 setup with a 100 to 150 hit, I use torco 118 Nos fuel and run a #9 heat range plug. I warm the car with a #6 in it, then change to a fresh set of #9 every trip, and pull some plugs after every run. Probably total overkill, but I'd rather be safe then sorry.

I agree on the plugs. Get some colder than you think you need and read em as you go hotter. It's the safest way for sure, and my modus operandi, after having some plug melt downs. Yea, nitrous absolutely loves the compression, as long as tune is spot on. Listen to these guys that have been there and had no problems. good luck

Nope, leaded, heavily headed LOL. Screw the unleaded ****. If you have no cats, then you have no problems... tune the car in open loop so the o2 sensors are all off and you'll have a more consistant tune anyway, less electronic **** to screw with the tune the better, and you can then run any fuel you want.
