I just bought a GMMP Carb intake and will be installing a direct port on it in the next few weeks and would like to mabye get some ideas.

Also any tips would be appreaciated as far as nozzle placement/angle, or any other related things that may be helpful.

More than anything I wanna see some PICS!

One of my buddies just got a Victor Jr and we did a side by side comparo and the GMMP looks to be a better piece overall. The runners are bigger, the insides are designed similar but the GM looks like it would cut the air alot better. Mine definately will after the 7-8 hours of porting/polishing I did on it last weekend. The Victor Jr. did have more provisions for fuel injection though and was a little taller, mabye 3/8ths or so.

Good luck with whatever you go with.

Thanks Dave, some of those are sick!

I think I have a pretty good idea of what I'm gonna do with it, I'll post up some pics when it's finished.

Did you see mine in the other thread? Don't want to be a picture *****, wait, yes I do. Also, have quite a few single plane pics in my archives for insight. Many ideas on fuel plumbing, which I have that part done and it is being plumbed right now at HSW for the Direct Port Dry. Very, very trick combo for sure, the Vic Jr and EFI. Running a LS2 90mm TB and a Nitro Dave Aluminum elbow. If ya want I can post some pics alter today? By the way Dave, I couldn't find the DP dry pics in your thread link?

Here you go.

My setup, and it doesn't have the DP plumbing in these pis, being worked on now, but will post when finished. Vic Jr and LS2 90mm TB with a Nitrous Dave elbow (more on elbows in next post).

Here's my buudy from my car club and his set-up for an f-body.
He polished it all at home, lol, lots of work. Wish mine was this nice looking.

Chris's at NO.

The Mac Daddy from HSW. What my intake wants to be when it grows up.

Slowhawk's elbow and setup. This is where I got the idea for mounting the regulator on the back of Elbow,
just welded on a tab to tap for a couple 10/32 machine screws.

Bob at EPP, bad azz for sure.

Unkown 427ci. Can't remember who?

On the elbows, mine was/is a Dave elbow for the F-body. However, it slightly hits the hood
and needs to have the intake base machined down or a hood scoop added for clearance.
Works ok on the Camaros though. The other elbows in the pics are from Arron and elbows.com
or something like that. They are much less restrictive, however, the F-bodies need to notch
the cowl to work, and the y-bodies will need a hood or scoop. This should be the first choice
if we don't mind cutting and/or adding a hood. I am sticking with N.O. elbow at this time, then
will do a back to back test with the other style of elbow. What's also nice about the dave
elbow is the fact that everything remains in the stock location.

Here's mine with some clay for fitting. You can see in the circle where
the red paint was transfered. I chose to add a Z28 cowl induction style hood scoop,
rather than a whole new hood $$.

Here's another option, the Edelbrock Elbow. It has a divider in the 90° turn to help even
the flow out concerning the low profile.

Another Slowhawk

A C5 with the Vic Jr, LS2 90mm and NO elbow

My favorite intake pic. wouldn't you love to be running this bad boy?

American HP from the vetteforum, just love these high dollar sheet metal intakes.
This will be setup for DP when finished.

8 sec Camaro from Bahrin

Another angle of Slowhawk setup

Here's what I bought new/used over at the vettefroum. The beginings of my wallet being emptied again, lol.

Hope this gives you some insight and ideas.
Good luck and send me some pictures of your setup to add to the collection.

sorry for the crapy pic. this is a dual stage fogger.
My only recommendation is take your time. If you're going fast it's going in the garbage.

He was asking for single plane style manifolds.

Those are some nice setups, I am gonna run a carb for a while and see how it does,

I was wondering more about nozzle placement and angle, is there a rule of thumb?

Carbs are cool, however, I have a Hot Rod magazine that they did a back to back test comparing EFI to Carb on a Victor single plane. The EFI made more power and torque. So even the old wives tale that a carb can do better is not true. Watch for the single plane and EFI, of course with DP Dry take the lead for us street/strip guys. The pro's are already doing it, and the only set back for them is the new tech of EFI and learning the computer stuff. On nozzle position, well I am not an expert on this yet, but I will refer you to Matt at HSW as the man to see for the DP Dry setups, as he has by far the most experience. Their shop is setup for this kind of test and tuning, a dyno on hand. So they are much more than just a parts store like many of the other vendors, and not just N2O vendors. They are handling my plumbing; as the learning curve expands, we'll be able to give better input in the near future, after I visit the dyno and strip. Good luck, and keep us updated on all your progress as we are on the cutting edge and what we find out will help countless others.
