Recheck to make sure you are tapping into the right connector. Red connector, #10 pin white wire. If that is still the case i suggest trying to findout why its not the rigth wire. i.e. motor swap to a different year LS1

ok i called gm up and told them that im trying to hook up a window switch and im needing to find the tach wire on the pcm, i told them that a couple of guys said its the #10 pin on the bottom pcm and it should be a white wire. he said that it should be a purple wire and its the oxygen sensor i told him thats what color mine is. they said the only one it might be is the #8 white wire and its called the engine speed signal anyone got any ideas. i would appreciate it.
That would most likely be it. See everyone was telling you the wiring for a 99-02 LS1 camaro. See i dont know anything about the v6 cars but it sounds right what the gm tech told you. Hope it helps

white wire, proven.
why would u call the dealer and ask them??
like they'd really guide u in the right direction in hooking up a nitrous system.
search the boards for 00-02 shift light install, same same process.
