Ive been looking and it seems that MSD has old models and new models out of the window switches. Is there any certain model i need for a 01 TA? Is there a model that has ever had defects i should stay clear of?

I would go with the digital MSD. I've used the one with pills before also & many people on here use them, but mine just stopped working all the sudden.

 

Don' know of any old model MSD.
Right now, I have the MSD digital rpm window switch pn#MSD-8969.

 

I currently run 3 old style pill model MSDs. From what i have seen posted on this site, is the fact that some do have problems with the new digital, or at least when they first came out. My motto, why fix what is not broke, so I just stay with the old dependable pill style, which are also easier to tune, IMO. The pill style can be a real bargain used, as most feel they need the newest product out. You'll likely be fine with either style.
