NOS/ PORTED LS1 heads.... WHAT CAM???
2001 Z M6 TNT 150WET and ported LS1 heads with LTs and SLP lid. what do you think the best cam for daily driving is? I aint worried about sound i just want the most power i can get!!!!! I'm thinking a MS3 or MS4 cam..... any info is good! THANKS....THEKING
Get ahold of Patrick G. and have him spec you out a cam exactly for what you want, those cams you are looking at are good but are off the shelf cams, I have the ms3 and it works good but could be better for my setup, custom cam is the way to go!
Those are pretty big cams and i dont think they are the BEST for daily driving. You'll also need to fly cut the pistons with those cams. Something like a 232/236 tops should work well with nitrous and have good street manners. you want something with a little bit more duration on the exhaust side.
I have a 224/228 114° Comp Cams .58x, pulls hard Head/cam/LT around 4000+ . With a pulley and Patriot Stage 2 heads 417 RWHP/401 Tq on one of the hottest days in New York for the year. Not a big Cam but enough to put a smile on my face.
i actually do not know the measurement but i just put a little layer of clay down and had no problems, also rotated by hand and prayed it would be okay, might be a fluke but i know people have ran bigger custom cams that worked with stock heads.
if i had to guess it would be not enough.

Like Beer I run a small cam, but don't let big cam numbers fool you. Meaning, the smaller correct cams, for our engines, can in fact put down some good power. My goal was a very streetable cam with nitrous as a consideration. Drive across country then spray the hell out of it, lol. Mine is 228/232 578/587 112, and puts down 430rwhp and 450rwtq, yep on the tq and it's not peaky but rather pretty linear across the board. This is with bone stock ls6 heads and intake, though do have LTs. I am sure Pat G wouldn't be to far off on this idea of the smallish cam. along with Mike and added duration on the exhaust, I also like a little added lift.
