My new Dual 50lb Bottles Mounted
#48
Hello, Robert56 mentioned that he posted my setup over here and asked if I could fill in the background.
A '77 F150 4x4 with a 60 over 460 (472), C6 (fully built and low ratio gear set), 4:11's, 35's. This is a big and heavy street rod that is for summer fun. I've been tinkering for years and tried different things, the nitrous happened by accident. I was at work and noticed two 50# brushed aluminum CO2 bottles that had never been filled. Work just wanted to get rid of them so into the back of van they went. Some phone calls determined that they could be changed to nitrous duty. Some NOS high flow valves, custom stainless siphon tubes and then a hydrostatic check and off to be filled. $400 later I had 100lbs of nitrous on tap. Now the magic question was how to mount them. I got hold of a friend who is an artist and fabricator and we worked out a sketch of what was needed. Many hours of machine work and tig work later the cradle was ready. I used Cold Fusion remote bottle openers that feed a wye and then NOS filter on the way to the purge and NOS 180hp cheater plate. The truck has a Performer RPM intake so I'm limited on how much can be sprayed but it is fun. A funny (sort of) sideline is that during working on this the province I live in came in with a new Street Racing Law. They wanted to ban all performance changes but when finally passed only required that I disconnect the bottles when on the road.
Not for everyone but it's my toy and I trully enjoy it.

Here are a couple videos, apparently most people don't like the music I used (including my own kids) .

Yea, I have warm spot for bad azz 4x4's. Had a '63 BBC 454 LS5 (yes an original), tilt front end, Monster Mudders and all the goodies, one stump pulling monster. I'll try and dig up some pics. I think it's well done and we welcome anybody and any vehicle on this site regardless of what some may think. As long as there is no rice, it's welcome in the nitrous section.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. ZR1 Dreaming, appreciate the link.
The truck is in a constant state of flux, I have a SWB frame that I've filled the factory holes and am in the process of bracing to eventually swing the running gear over. My SuperMotors link is http://www.supermotors.net/17307.
I'm located about a hour and a half North Of Grand Bend Motorplex, up by the Bruce Nuclear site. The upside is that we have some amazing welders and machinists avaiable.
Great site, been working my way through the nitrous posts and loving the info.
