Default Nitrous Bottle Placement

A friend of mine with a 2002 Camaro Z28 was thinking of getting nitrous for his car but isn't sure where he would be able to put the bottle, so where is the recommended place to put a nitrous bottle on 98-02 Camaros?

He has T-Tops in case that matters.

spare tire well (for a stealth setup) or the hump between the rear seats. these are probably the most popular for camaros.

to mount on the tranny hump you have to fab a custom mount.
to mount on top of the rear deck you must drop the gas tank.
to mount in the spare-tire area you lose the spare.
I have t-tops so mounting in the rear trunk was out.
So, here is where mine went.

How hard is it to fab up mounts for the rear seat hump?

For putting it in the spare tire location is there enough room to mount the bottle at the correct angle or whatever? I heard that there is a certain way the bottle has to be placed.

you'll need to fab some mounts for the spare-tire area as well.
To fab up mounts is not hard if you have the tools (lathe, roller, welder, ect...). You could build a templet out of cardboard and take to any fab-shop and they can fab one up for a fee.
As far as mounting the bottle, you don't want it facing backwards or upside-down.

No fabbing required for the tunnel mount. Just hit up Nitrous Outlet for one.

someone needs to fab up a bracket that works with the nano in the spare tire well. not sure if the current ones would work with a nano unit.

How do you get the T-tops in there? Also on my old Z I put a peice of plywood under the carpet and didn't have to drop the gas tank. The nitrous bottles mounted directly to it.

Me and a buddy mounted his on the rear hump and used some 1/4" strap metal and bent some metal straps and mounted his bottle brackets to them. Looks clean as hell.

If you use that bracket to mount the bottle between the seats, does it use existing bolt holes (like the seatbelt bolt holes), or do you drill your own? When my brother was 16, he put a ZEX kit on his Prelude, and he drilled 6 holes in the gas tank in the process. We went driving around the next day, and I was like, "dude, you smell gas, I'm about to pass out from it, roll the windows down," lol.
