What do you consider high compression? I have a alum. LS2 block and plan on running around 11.7 to 1 compression and spraying a 250 to 300 shot. Will the block be ok?

13.5.1 is high to me and that is were im at.Everyone that is lower compresson are able to hit it harder with nitrous without issues. The problem is when my motor was done everyone says nos like compression but i never took into consideration that the blocks would have issues. Most people that hit motors hard with nitrous are bigblock and smallblock guys. Those motor never had issues like are stuff doe's.My old motor was up forsale and im going to keep it and convert it to the lsx block with the four bolt heads i have already.

I'm bringing this one back up. Here's what you really need if you want to be a big dog:

The normal head studs are stock size and the extra two are 3/8ths. It is an ERL prepped Warhawk block. The cost is propably in the seven grand range, but it is probably the ultimate solution to the block problem.

Very good thread. Another thing to consider on stud sizes is the increased engagement area in the block with 1/2" vs. std size L19 studs to handle the increased cylinder pressure.
Nitrous spikes the cylinder pressure vs. forced induction and it will be hard for a stock head casting and cylinder to handle a big shot without backing the timing way back to lower the peak pressure.
Just to clarify that the ERL block starts as an LS2 and is then modified. The cost is in the $3-$4K range depending on options and if you have a core.

Well this is what I know. I don't know if there is a point that heads will lift if you have 1/2in head studs and cometic gaskets. This is supposedly with no detonation. 2 rotations of a detonation is a blown head gasket.

I have over 1K to the wheels and I don't have any air or water in my overflow. The blue T/A I race has the same setup as mine but not as much power with 317 casting heads and 1/2 with cometics. Same for his car. I trapped 134 in the 1/8 and we trap 124 in the1/8 with the T/A. Neither car has any problems at all. We have EGTs and widebands on both cars and my honest opinion is that the tune is the only reason why heads are getting lifted off the motor. WE don't run **** for timing on either car.
