Default Safest 100 shot for Z06, wet or dry?

I'd like to eventually put a small kit on my car with probably 100hp jets. I hear that dry kits aren't very consistant since you're spraying in front of the MAF, but I understand with a wet kit if it backfires it could kill the intake manifold. Which setup is best for an 01 Z06?

Man this gets old (explaining the dry thing, lol), and nothing personal. I held the bone stock long block LS6 Z06 record running a small dry hit (check out the Z06 fast list at Vette forum, all top n2o runs are dry hits). Beat out all the wet hits, DP hits, blowers, turbo(s) any all comers. Didn't even run headers at that time. It's all in the set-up of the nozzles running dry. However, things have changed. with the new HSW Interface nozzle tuning is no longer an issue, and running the nozzles after the MAF is the way to go these days. You can dial in the exact a/f ratio and and it WILL stay the same every run. The pic in my sig is my new set-up a street/strip Direct Port dry, try that a year ago, lol. Yes, backfires are always a concern on the Vettes, and I would always rec a dry hit. HSW has dry plate kits utilizing the Interface for fueling and timing pull. Check out the Interface intro thread. i show some actual Z06 screen captures and a short how-to on setting up the advanced timing pull feature. Also, may personal web site has more Vette tuning for dry and much other upgrade info and my Z06 has been and still is the test bed for all info. Good luck and let me know if I can help some how. Please ask on this thread, as my PMS are approaching 100 and I just don't have the time to give individual tech on most often complex questions, meaning i would rather share my input (for what ever it's worth) with many, rather than one.
Robert

KCJeff is putting in a Dry HSW Plate using the Interface on his C-5, look for his thread on how his install goes on the corvetteforum.com

I did both Wet and Dry

Properly installed and with the correct supporting Mods and tuning, either will work for you.

I went w/ HSW single nozzle dry and added the HSW interface so I can fine tune it. Probably could have gotten by w/out interface but makes it easy to tweak the AFR w/out fighting with the nozzle placement. If I bump it up some I can pull timing too w/out having to buy something else. Look at the Trick window/WOT switch too.

If weather is ok I'll probably be at Brainerd Tuesday night, come by and check it out.

If you haven't already changed injectors might as well start looking for some I was at 93% w/ 50 shot and my few bolt ons.

Are you spraying before or after the MAF?

Before the MAF. Didn't have the interface when I first got the kit so was having to work w/ nozzle placement. I've got the Honker too so there's not much room between the MAF and TB to work with.

Since it's spraying over the MAF I don't put the actual jet HP in the interface, just use it to tweak A/F to where it needs to be w/out turning nozzle. If it's at 12.2 I can set the interface for something like 40HP and get the little bit extra fuel.

BTW, I'm at 77% on the motor. If I put a FAST on it I'm gonna say i'll be stressing the injectors as much as I'm willing to, I don't really like to go past 85%.

Yes, LM1 WB and just got the upgraded HPTuners interface back yesterday so now logging WB AFR along with everything else in the HPT scanner. Same set up as LinearX and RPlaster are using.

Agree on injectors, have a new set of SVO 30# sitting in garage. Going to get 1Tony1 to clean/flow and then change them out. Looking for another set for Snowbird if you happen to come across some. I'm watching forum here for a good bargain too.

Did you feel like the car picked up any after you changed the fuel filter? Did you see anything different on your logs?

Yea, I am looking at using a (not the HSW TB Plate) carb plate to run a dry hit through the Vic Jr and corresponding stock PCM and Interface and the new 80lb injectors. So now we will be, stage 1 DP Dry, stage 2 TB Dry Plate and the 3rd stage a carb plate dry. then i can test and run all the new styles and tech of the dry in single form or all together.

I would suggest doing a search and try to read through all the BS. Lots of opinions are rambled and argued with out actual facts to back them up. I personally feel any system set up properly and tuned properly with quality products can be just as safe as the other. The problem is what one conciders safe, quality, and reliable will vary.. Personal knowledge is the best and it can only be gained through time.

Let me know f you could use some guidence we would be happy to help.
