Default Having traction issues, anyone care to step inside

After finally getting my tune down and a couple of test runs I was ready for an all run down the street. Heated up my MT ET Streets, but the pressure was still above 28#. Rolled into 1st and nitrous engages, leaves a little more rubber on the street and I pull back a little so I don't bounce off of my rev limiter but I stay on it. Shifts into second and then takes off like a bat out of hell. Continues to 3rd gear and a little over 100mph before I shut down.

AFR stayed between 11-12, I need to lean out the rich spike just a little. Spraying a single nozzle dry 150, I believe .063 jetting. Bottle pressure 1100psi What could be done about my traction in first? HPTuners can't really cycle my solenoid for me so I can't script a progressive shot. Should I look into a 2 stage with 100 and then 50 or vice versa to accommodate for 1st gear. Or do you think pulling air out of my ET Streets would make enough difference?

Aside from tires, I also have tubular LCA's and LCA relocation brackets set for the lowest hole. I want to think that its just the tire pressure thats keeping me from hooking in 1st.

Not for sure if you have a window switch or what rpm you are spraying, but on the street I have mine set to come on at 3800 and it hooks pretty good with a 150 shot on BFG drag radials. Before it was set as 3000 and wouldn't even try to hook, raising the rpm will drop down alot of torque and help your traction problem I think.

+1 on tire pressure
i was spraying 150 on 18" nitto d/r's with 4.10 gears and a 6 speed and had no traction issues in first, window switch was at 3000

your m/t et streets should hook alot better and your a4 should hook better than my m6 did

what size rim?

17" rim its a 275/40/17. I'm not 100% on what my rpm engage is set at, I will have to look at it, I do have room to raise though.

Guessing those are actually the MT Drag Radials and not ET Streets based on size. Still need to bring pressure down some, somewhere between 20-22 (hot) should be close. You'll just have to find what your car likes and of course it will change based on things like temp. Bumping the low rpm window up some is a good suggestion, let it get hooked up and rolling a little before the spray.

You normally run more air in the DRs than the ETs. 20-22 hot is the range I run mine at for street, maybe a little lower (19/20) at the strip. I don't do a lot of normal street driving on them but run 28 when I do. They still hook better than street tires at that pressure but from a role not a dig.

So I took the car out again and pulled the air out down to 20lbs and I was greatly pleased by the performance. Granted I also had lower bottle pressure but I was quite happy. Thanks for the help guys!

I would try even lower on the pressure. My ET Streets i run 10 to 12psi and my BFGs I run about 15psi. But what works for you, well time will tell and some practice launches. Do a few and look at the pattern left behind, you want full contact patch, missing on the sides and to much air, missing in the middle and to little air. try it in an empty parking lot. I always make sure i have enough spray going to allow the tires to spin a bit, that will keep breakage at bay, though may slow your 60 down a bit.
