Default iat mod resistor question

OK so for the iat tricker mod you use a 750 ohm resistor right? I just got back from radioshack and all they had was a 1000 ohm. My thinking is 750 ohms or higher is going to tell the pcm that it's 140* outside right? I sure hope so cuz I just wasted $1.07 if not!

No one knows if a 1000 ohms will do the same thing as 750?

Both of you guys are correct, there are two ways to do the IAT mod.

1-To trick the pcm that it is colder thus increasing timing(4.7 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor):
http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm
look under computer/diagnostics

2-To trick the pcm to think it is warmer thus retarding timing(using nitrous etc)750 ohm resistor:
http://www.robertsnitrousservice.com/n20wiring.htm
Thanks to Robert56 for the link.

Search timing tricker

why not just get it done right via hpt. It takes litterally 10 seconds to do it and you don't have to worry about rigging some thing.

So there is a way in hpt to run n/a timing and then retard it? I thought that was just with efi live?

Cause we dont run nitrous 100% of the time....we want full timing NA and to be able to pull timing incase we spray.

on a bolt on car and even small cam cars timing isn't a huge deal. Before I had the spray I was on 26 total wot timing and then went to 22 with the juice and n/a to n/a I went 12.4@111 in 50 degree weather on a 1.85 60'. Then I went on my nitrous tune in 90 degree weather and a 1.82 60' and ran a 12.6@109.5. So from Losing 4* wot timing and going up 40* in temp and ALOT more humididty I only lost 2 tenths and 1.5 mph to have the comfort to know everything will run perfectly...I'll take it.

Plus, we don't all have HP Tuners. Some of us are broke MFers.

BTW I've already sprayed 150 through it out of the hole all the way down the 1/8 mile, but reading on here how everyone is pulling some timing I got worried and thought I better try it to be safe.

Stock internal cars seems to be fine on a 150 shot on stock timing. Again I did that on a 150 shot and it didn't ping or blow so it worked for me

Yeah the guys at NX acted like 150 on a stock tune/motor wasn't a big deal either, spray it and call it a day. I've just read a lot of stuff about pulling timing and what not. Like I said I'm a broke MFer, can't afford to blow **** up.

thats fine but ive seen a member of this board do mid 12's all day on his NA tune and low 12's on a 75 shot.....tuned it for nitrous and did 11.40's on the 75 shot but dropped to 13.0's NA.....I like having the best of both worlds as i race most of the time NA.

Normally i would agree...but if a 75 shot gets him 106 ponies and a full second and half faster ET on the bottle then i wouldnt complain....but he ran 90% of the time on the bottle.....I trust Jason at TSP 100% 10 times over and he is the one who tuned it.
