The Reference 50 provides superb control, processing power, and easy setup. It decodes digital soundtracks flawlessly and with excellent imaging, with the following settings (list is not complete, so please check web-link below for more details):
· Mono
· Stereo can be distributed to a purist 2 speakers or across a selection of various speakers
· Surround – best suited with surround encoded movies and music and multi-channel encoded bitstreams using one of the six available surround decoder types:
o Pro Logic Movie (Cinema)
o Pro Logic Music
o Pro Logic Music II Movie (Cinema)
o Pro Logic II Music II
o Neo:6 Movie (Cinema)
o Neo:6 Music
· THX – incorporates Lucasfilm Home THX Re-Equalization, Timbre Matching, and Adaptive Decorrelation to correct for tonal and spatial errors. THX Ultras 2 and Cinema mode and THX MusicMode use Advanced Speaker Array (ASA) to perform additional processing to optimize the use of surround side and surround back speakers in a home theater system.
· DVD Audio to be used to transform the analog outputs of a DVD player or any other 5.1 audio source device to route signal to 1-7 speakers and even add matrix surround/back processing
