The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Powertrain upgrades are due for m/y 2011. 400 hp v8 etc..... There is a lot of 5th gen Camaro in the revised 2010 Mustang. Do you think Ford is a little worried at the impact the 5th gen will have in 3.5 months?
The new stang still has the droopy puppy dog eyes though and like someone else mentioned it's 2010, twelve years since the debut of the LS powered F-bodies and they are still playing catchup. There are exceptions (Terms and Shelby's), but still I would expect more from Ford. Then again just look at their sales figures and I guess they are doing a lot of things better in the pony car market. Hard to argue with that.
Two of them or in my Cul de sac. Yuck!Funny story....the neighbor with the dream car Mustang walked up to me in the garage one day to chat. He asks me if sold my 02 EB Z06 to get the 08 C6Z. I'm thinking hmmm maybe he's interested in something different and I can talk him into GM. After I say yeah he proceeds to walk past the Z and spends the next 10 minutes gushing (I specifically chose the word gushing) over my wifes GXP. It looks nice imo and it's quick for a 2.0 4 banger but it's still a chick car imo. I tried my best to turn his attention to the "man" car, 427 CU, 500+ HP, aluminum chassis, big ******* wheels and brakes but nope he really has a thing for my wifes car. He wouldn't even look at the SS, oh well to each his own.
Second, the mustang in general isnt a chick car. Keep in mind all the tuners and aftermarket, if it were strictly a chick car that wouldnt be the case. Btw, chicks buy cars too, and Ford knows that.
As far as the styling, its okay i guess. I mean they have to keep updating to keep pace with the Challenger and when the Camaro comes out. Im just glad all 3 of the cars exist (or at least are going to be) considering the state of the big 3 right now.
Oh and musicman, am I to understand that if all other things were equal, price, performance etc. you would rather your car sound like a V6 than a V8? Because from what Ive read the pricing for the V6 Camaro is right there with the Mustang GT.
The point I brought up had nothing to do with car sales, it was stricly a fact, the reason for the F-body production stopage had little to do with actual car sales but more with not wanting to continue with the agreement it had with the canadian government on the building of the cars. Ford has lived on the hog so to speak lately due to there being no competition against the underpowered and inexpensive mustang. Now that Dodge and GM are back in the mix it will change the dynamics and I expect Mustang sales to take a hit, at least with the male population
