Default Seen the A320

Went into the NYC yesterday & stomped around. We went down to the waterfront & got to see the A320 that went swimming. Man that thing is TORN UP. About 1 more bump & it would have broke apart. Scary ****! I took a bunch of pics with the new camera but I forgot my card reader at home so it will be a while before I can post them. SORRY!

I'm witnessing Qual Tests for my 787 parts.

Seeing the aft end of the plane it's no wonder it started to fill with water. The empenage was totally ripped off (APU area), the aft cargo door was buckled open, a section of the skin was gone behind the wing-body-join and the fuselage was buckled....lucky people!

Wahusker you thing the 787 is going to be pushed back further? I guess the Flight Test guys haven't been able to install their instrumentation and test equipment yet because of all the rework.

Yeah, even airbus said they were surprised it stay together! It sure takes something special to rip the empenage off an airplane.

What parts are yours that are being tested?

There are some great pics of the recovery operation that have been floating around at work. I'll have to share them when I can get them off my lap top.

Here are a few of the pics that I took (I have a hundred, but these capture the gist of the damage). If you look at teh damage behind the wing you can see how the fuelage buckled & some skin was torn off & the aft cargo door was damaged. Like I said, I think it was pretty close to coming apart & lots of people drowning!

Jesus Mark, Your car looked worse than that, and there were no Geese involved at all!!!!!! On a serious note, Thos are some really good Pic's. It is truly amazing that nobody died in that landing!!!

From a structural stand point thats really not that bad, I don't know how the aft tail cone is held on on those A/C but if its like the boeings it would not take much to knock them off in that kind of a hit and remember that the aft bulkhead is forward of that so if that comes off in a ditch it does not matter.

If that cargo door and side skin would have held it would have taken a lot longer to flood.

There is not much between you and the cargo compartment hahaha.

Are you sure some skin is gone? From the pciture it looks like it just lost the aft wing to body fearing and the skin appears to be in tact. Those fairings are not held on my much but that section of the skins are held in GOOD, King Kong himself on roids I bet could not pull it off....

Being a bus though I am supprised it held together that well hahaha.

A boeing would have held together better I bet but it would have sunk retty quick hahaha.
