Pulling motor!
Hey orygun guys! I need to know who is down to help me pull a ls1 and trans out of an 02 ws6. The car is in a full shop but no lift. We have all the jacks and tools we will need I have just never done it before and am willing to pay someone or buy beers and food for anyone who could help me please!!

Yes, like Brandon mentioned, definately drop it out the bottom if you have the choice. You'll save yourself alot of time and grief.
Depending when stuff comes together with my car, I might be available to lend a hand. When is it gonna happen?

Its just on weekends and like I said guys all we have to do is get the motor out and thats it! Im sure we could do it but i would just feel safer havin someone help thats done it before. Trying to get this done at least before april so let me know!!

Well, here are some pics where Bobby and I pulled out the engine from his old SS. We got the engine out in about 6 hours, but we had everything we needed ahead of time like the: wood blocks, straps, dolly, engine hoist etc...
Here are some pics of the experience. This was our first time pulling an engine from the bottom of the car. Not sure how much time we have into this (maybe 6 hours?), but it would def. go alot quicker the next time. It was overall a pretty simple procedure and I think the hardest part was trying to figure out the best position for the straps onto the front of the car. The straps look small, but they're rated at 7000lbs each.
In this pic we just got through adjusting the straps for the first time, and it was just coming up off the jackstands.
Same as above, but from the side.
Here we got the car off the jackstands, and lowered the Kmember/engine onto the cart. The Kmember is unbolted at this point and the car was going back up in the air minus the engine.
Another shot, but a bit more up in the air.
Here the car is supported with our custom jackstand elevators. Bobby got this idea from another board member and they worked very well actually. We supported the car with these while we pulled the engine/Kmember/cart out from under the car.
And here it is, all out of the car. That shortblock is awaiting delivery into my car, along with a BMR Kmember.

I have a cart that you could use to set the engine on to roll it out from under the car You just have to swing by one of these day's after work and If it's ddry I could take you for a spin

I'll give you a hand but honestly I like taking it out the top...LOL, especialy if the car is going to take a while. Take the front k-off and its not the easy to move the car.
6 of one half dozen of the other doesnt matter to me but I've always done them out the top.

do you need a cherry picker?? id love to come and check it out a bit too im gonna have to pull mine soon to when i stroke it this summer. ps how about some 40's and orange juice lol jk jk

They have rims in them so it's not just sitting on rubber, that's what write up says to do. I think you need that extra height to get the k-frame out.
As far as top or bottom I'm just a bit on the claustrophobic side and don't like working under cars. (or is it fear of car on lift phobia?)

Plus, I've never been so motivated to get my car running again in my life. C'mon 9" rearend, hurry up and get here,,,, LOL......

Im thinkin not this weekend but the next I will let ya'll know asap!!
I dont care how we get it out I just need it out so I can start puttin a new motor together for it!!!!
