What kind of tires are you running out back?

Thanks buddy. I'm pretty happy with the way the car performed.

Dirtydog - Those are 315/35/17 Nitto DR's out back. I played with tire pressure but it didn't really seem to matter much. I was fighting wheel hop issues so it was either hopping or spinning lol.... The track didn't have any rubber down because all the fast cars were at Woodburn for the taping of Pinks.

I've not raced on DR much. One run, to tell the truth. But don't radials work better if you don't do a burnout? I know this is true of daily driver radials. I've sure tested it enough with my BFG's to know they stick better cold.
Are drag radials all that much different in this respect?

If it were a standard street radial I would agree, no burnout necessary. But drag radials are a different animal and respond better to some heat in them. The dirt and gravel sticks to them like crazy after a run.

You will be back in the mix soon buddy. Did you ever find those shocks by chance? Pretty sure my old worn out stockers were the root cause of the wheel hop.

That's why I ask. With my BFGs all I ever do is blip the throttle to turn them over once just to clean them off. I was under the impression that the difference between them and drag radials was basically the tred (or lack thereof). Is the compound all that much different?

Daily driver street tires will get greasy when heated up. Drag radials are of similar compound as drag slicks but with tread. So they need some heat in them to get sticky.

I was trying to just clean the tires off a little on the first run with just a tiny burnout and I spun as I was bogging down and I launched low like 2000. My best 60 ft. was when I did a good burnout, and I launched about 3000.

So all this time I have been thinking of DR's as street tires with bigger tred blocks, when I ought to be thinking of them as slicks with a couple lines cut in them. Thanks for the education.

Hey Mikey, Do you have a full spool? I noticed some not too friendly sounds coming from your rear every time you pulled around the water box. I also saw a nice little spark show on one of your runs between the 1000' and 1320'. Nice runs BTW, I didn't know any LS1tech members were coming to the track. BTW, who was the guy in the white LT1 Camaro with the Big Block hood?

He has 31 spline detroit locker, were you there running or watching? I dont think anyone met the guy with the LT1 with the bigblock hood. My GF talked to his GF on the last pass I made and she said he was just getting into racing and he didn't know to many people, I meant to go talk to him but had other things on my mind.

Are you a crew member at PIR? If so, could I get some better matchups with cars next time haha? Evertime I got lined up with some POS 15 second turd until I requested a lineup with TylerLS1 on the very last pass.

As Brandon said, it's a Detroit Locker in a 9" housing, so it pops pretty loud around corners.

Ya, that spark show was an aborted run. I missed 3rd gear so I just pushed in the clutch and was casually going for 4th gear but it was actually 2nd gear. I caught it in time before the revs hit too high but it sure nosed over in a hurry lol.... You can hear it in one of the vids I have at home.

I meant to say hi to the guy in the white LT1 camaro also, just ran out of time or was talking to other people. I wonder if he's on here?

DBL TKE does work at PIR. They rotate the staff around, but he can be found in the water box, on occassion later in the night operating the tree, and sometimes found in relief duty at the ET shack and sometimes up in Tech.

I was working. I was in the tower lane water box then on the starting line for a little bit. Just so everyone knows, doing burnouts on the entrance exit/road isn't such a bright idea. Besides that, all is well. Looks like you guys are coming back out on 18th?

OK I think I remember ya. You were guiding me into the waterbox all night because I kept getting the tower side lane lol... I think Saturday night of the 18th is the next planned trip out there.

I see you have an 80' Z car. I've owned three of the early Z cars over the years, 70, 72 and a 73. Neat little cars and rapidly becoming collectors.
