Default 6 Point Rollbar Install Pics

Here's a few pics of my rollbar I'm installing.

I have 4 of the floor plates welded into the car and I'm just about finished with the trial fitment. I'm trying to find out far away your helmet needs to be from the main hoop to be NHRA legal. Right now I'm at about 3-1/2" from where I want to place the main hoop.

LOL,,,, yeah. I cut off those extra pieces from the rear bars. Not really needed and it would have been two more plates to weld-in for them, plus more fitting headaches. I gave it another coat of rattle can black paint too.

Yeah, it hasn't been exactly easy, but I've got alot of free time these days so it keeps me occupied lol...

Answered your questions in the other thread also.

No worries. I have lots of other work to do on the car before the weekend so it's no biggie. You had a championship to win!

Well I got the rollbar completely installed last week, but I just got around to uploading the finished pics. I've been making progress in other areas of the car also, including the new true-dual exhaust with an X-pipe that I welded up this last week. That poor welder I bought hasn't had a break since I got it lol.... First the SFC'c, then the rollbar, now the exhaust Haha....

Thanks Matt. I'm really happy with the way it all turned out and thanks for selling it to me.

are those bolts on the side bars by the doors so you can take those bars out for cruising and the like? I've just never seen those with bolts on them before..

Yes, the side bars are called 'swingout door bars', meaning they are removable for street use. They're pretty common on 6 point rollbars.

Since I'm in the process of losing a bunch of weight out of the car I had the dash out and decided to get busy installing the forward bars to make it a 10 point rollcage. My goal with the car is to eventually run mid-9's (not this year, maybe 2011?) But hey,,,,, I'm layed-off and got nothing but time, a garage, and a welder. ;D

Here's some pics of the install so far. Yesterday was spent getting the driver side forward bar to fit better. The original bends were WAY the **** off and it didn't fit the car worth a ****. The angle of the bar following the A-pillar was at least 5 degrees off (it was BAD). So I broke out the pipe bender and went to town fixing the angles. Also didn't have any head room with the way it fit before. I modified the top portion of the forward bar to fit up into the T-Top and then bend back downward to meet the main hoop behind my head. That was a pain in the ***... but I'm happy with the way it came out. Now I need to work on the passenger side today.

Can just barely see the forward part of the cage from the side since it tucks up inside the T-Top. The way it fit before, you could see the entire top portion of the foward bar. It's much better now with the new bends/angles.

Here is the bend I added to meet the main hoop so that the forward bars could tuck up inside the T-Top.

Still retain use of the T-Top access because hell, this is still a street car.

Thats a lot of work Mike. You look like you are doing a pretty good job and know what you are doing. It will be time for me to do a roll bar soon.

Thanks man. It's very time consuming but that is probably because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Got hit with a head cold today so I'm down for the count until this passes.
