is it just me or does it seem like fbodys run alot faster in different parts of the country? is it just cause of track prep or DA? but whats up with people hitting 12's stock with an ls1 and street tires? im just wondering if its because pir sucks or something.

Track prep at PIR isn't exactly incredible, especially on the late night drags (cold doesn't help either). I've seen better times at Woodburn, track felt like glue at the chevy showdown last year.

Track prep and DA are huge factors. Also getting down in the nitty gritty, light placement also has a minor factor (.01 of second factor or less). The roll out can have an effect on ET. Woodburn has good prep on big race events, but on nights such as sport compact night they don't do any more than PIR. PIR on Friday/Saturday doesn't do as much prep as on Wednesday nights. Also PIR is limited on prep, they can only prep 300 feet out due to the road coarse. But there are tracks all over the east coast and Texas that seem to put up better numbers, even in the pro ranks, they have better ET's at some tracks versus others even with similar DA.

2 words! DRIVER MOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like I always say drag racing is all about the 60ft time! So when you see these times make sure to look at their 60ft's and when it says 1.7 or 1.6 then it will make sense!

As mentioned, track prep can make or break the 60' times, and as Phil mentioned, the 60' time is the key to good ET's. Also, driving with a 6sp as compared to an auto can make a good bit of difference also. Auto's tend to hook better off the line with street tires.
I think there's a track in Maryland that is actually a couple hundred feet BELOW sea level, making the densest air in the country. Plus those tracks are known for being the best prepped tracks around and are typically open year-round, only closing when it snows or rains. Add all those factors in, (cold winter air, below sea level, best track prep) and you have a recipe for some quick ET's.

Isn't Bremerton or some track up there downhill at the end? Strangest strip I've been to was in Sparks Nevada, it was part of the hot august nights event schedule. It was UPHILL. No joke, and high altitude too. There's was an 80's dodge colt or something there with a turbo 4 banger running mid 10's, uphill

ya i know its about the driver mod but i doubt any one could do a 12.7 or so at pir with street tires and an ls1. my only piont was that maybe pir is a bad location with bad prep or something. my best 60 ft is a 2.0 or something, which i realize isent that good but if i launch any harder than i all ready do i just spin like crazy.

Ya I left my front sway bar on and didnt do anything with my shocks and i couldnt get any better than 2.0 60 ft on street tires. Pulled the sway bar off and adjusted the qa1's and got a 1.8 60 ft on Riken Raptor street tires. Pull youre sway bar off next time you go, well worth it.

I've gotten in the 1.8's with the six on DR's, 4.10's, and a slipping posi. And that's with a weird launch, the stick shift hates DR's, pain in the rear without a 2 step. Gonna get some 15" wheels and try some slicks for a while, also need to invest in some lighter front wheels, my centerline skinnies are HEAVY suckers, lol

ya i cant rev over 2000 rpm when i launch with my tires. i think it must be damn near impossible to get a good launch without DR's. or maybe im just not skilled enough ive only been to the track 4 times in my whole life.
cool man how you likin' it? once i get in school im gonna start saving for my cam/heads and 12 bolt. im looking forward to riding in a ms4 408 car

This is what I do dont know if it will help, but worth a try. Rev tell about 2300, pop the clutch give just a tiny bit more throttle and hold the peddel where its at tell the tires just start to stop spinning and hammer down. It's ok for them to spin alittle and I found out at that RPM is perfect for me. I remember racing phill and TylerLs1 and I got a great jump on them but Tyler pulled me cause of gears, and phill and Tyler just out powered me due to my car cutting out and that was due to 5 bent push rods..lol... I want my rematches damn it..
