I'm local to the area, live just across the river and I go to the Rod Run every year. A friend of mine has a little cabin in Ocean Park within walking distance of the car show. But most of the action is cruizing Long Beach.

I will check back in later in the year, I hope to see you there. There is also a huge car show going on in Seaside Oregon just across the river the same weekend. Wheels and Waves car show, not Muscle Beach. You can cruize both in the same day. Google it.

It's really a great weekend to have a nice car on the Coast. Thousands of fine rides start rolling in for the weekend about Wednesday. Thousands is not an exageration. It is not just the entries in the 2 big shows, but all the car nuts (like us) who come to cruise.

If you are thinking about getting rooms, I really suggest that you book them soon.

That sounds fun to make the drive and go to both car shows. My friend owns a resturaunt in Cannon which is minutes away from Seaside and would be a cool spot to stop and have lunch/dinner along the way. So what are the dates for these two events so I can mark the calender?

EDIT: http://www.seasideor.com/item.asp?iid=97

I might be making some hotel reservations afterall.

Nope. Russ Pappas. The restaurant is called, JP's. Absolutely amazing seafood chowder. His dad is the cook and graduated top of his class at culinary school.
