since i plan on lsx454, ill have to just but it all new, thats fine with me...but i change my mind aloy and buying a 454 will depend on how much money i make in cali. i will be going NA for this build and my goal is to have at least 600RWHP. plus car will have gobs of TQ thats what is most appealing about the 454

Yep I hear ya bro... I would love to have a 454 in mine. But for the price you pay to get that HP just doesn't justify. But hell! I know you will be extremely happy if you got one, so I say keep your dreams high and it will come to ya

ya the 454 is the sickest lsx motor in my opinion. id say it justifies pretty well, the cost of the shortblock is only $2000 more than a 408, the topend kits will cost the same. ill pay around 10 grand for it tho. i considered goin with a procharged 408 but staying NA seems easier to me and i like the oldschool CI

That they are....but if you're going to DD the thing, feeding a big-cube engine will be expensive as hell at every fill-up. Just something to consider on a DD vehicle. Might be better to just spray a smaller-cube powerplant if it's a DD. If it's a weekend toy, then go big-cube.

Whatever you decide to do, it'll be a shitload of fun

so, ive decided not to go with a new motor at all...at least not for a while. just gonna get some gears with a 9 inch, clutch, tranny work, roller rockers etc...get the car back in shape and running good. i dont need to buy rediculously expensive motors right now. its easy to let your dreams get out of control. i can get mid to low 11's just by doing the mods i listed plus the motor i have is allready pretty mean..it has alot more than a low 12 in her lol. anyway i was just thinking about this today and thought i would share it.

good night

Skip the roller rockers, stock rockers are as good as it gets. All the aftermarket roller rockers weigh more and cause valvetrain stability issues.

No ****? I've always heard good things about roller rockers. There has got to be something more I can do to squeeze out some more ponies.

Who knows, a super charger is something I'd also love tl do. A Maggie or another type of roots blower would be the ****...not a big fan of turbos..I don't want Turbo lag plus blowers sound so. Cool

Just have the stock rockers upgraded by Harland Sharp or do the trunion upgrade yourself. Like $300-$350 for them to do and like $150-$200 to buy kit and DIY. Theextra $150 for them to do 16 of them sounds great to me. And I'm the DIY type. I will be assembling my 408 or 416 stroker.

I'm keeping my eyes out for a LS3 or L92 block so I can do a 416 but may settle on a 408 iron build. Will be blown by Kenne Bell or Whipple.

^^^^^^Werd....

Also...Consider Comp Hi Tech pushrods, Ti retainers, etc if you really plan to spin the hell out of it. Maybe LS7 lifters and new trays as well.

Guess you haven't been in a turbo'd lsx I've been around most ls setups, nitrous, big cubes, procharger etc. Turbo hands down is the best setup in my opnion.

For me it's the idea of the modern take on old school... Chevelle, cubes, blower, headers... F-Body I would go turbo in a heart beat.

Sorry to hijack...

The way i see it blowers are for muscle cars and turbos are for imports. Plus I want brute force low end of a blower
