ODBII DEQ ?? Especially LT1 guys
So I bought a 97 formula as a charity case. I'm dealing with this right now:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...sed-motor.html
I'm thinking I really don't want to work around the EGR/AIR systems and the stock manifolds. Is DEQ still the same you don't have codes you pass? THinking about RACE Pacesetters with bullet Cats.
But I need it to pass DEQ. Thinking about a 5.3 swap already have some swap parts but I'm worried about that passing too.
Thanks, anyone have any leftover LT1 stuff let me know...this poor car.

Todd has a lot of leftovers. Just promise not to trash talk about me from 4 years ago when I drank 2 pints of Jeagermiester and a case of beer. Long time ago. I'm a much better man. Was just a dark time. Anyways, hit up Todd, O2WS6Turk. The stall is mine, lol. Do don't even think about it. Chris.

Dude was that really 4 years ago?
I really just want a good running formula. So no stall, I'd do a t56 swap if I wanted a better drivetrain . Thnks for the heads up.
Any one on the deq there is a set of pacesetters in the classifieds with my name all over them if they'd pass emissions with a tune.

Just as a disclaimer I may be wrong but in my experience with DEQ in Sherwood OR this is what I have been told/seen.
If it is OBDII then you just have to clear all the emission codes (or remove them from the computer). I think they will look under the car to see if there is a cat present but sometimes they don't. The really tricky thing is pre-OBDII cars have to pass the sniffer test and then they want them to pass like the day they were produced. Anyways good luck with the car!

96-8 i belive early OBD2 cars can have 2 readiness monitors that have not set yet as long as the rest of the monitors have set and there is no light or pending codes your g2g. 99 and on you have to have all monitors but 1 to pass no light or pending codes. you have to have cats or (something that looks like a cat they usually cant tell the difference). they seem to look or not look under for them. even though they are supposed to every time. nice thing is that your doing a 5.3 swap in a 97 you have the old obd2 standards. hope this helps bobby! ps still rockin the bilstiens you sold me a while back great struts and shocks!

Haha those bilstiens were nice! Good to hear your getting use out of em!
I'm actually going with an 99 LS1, I am going to pay for it first thing in the morning. pretty high mileage but I'm getting everything for the swap including entire front suspsension and brakes with steering for a pretty reasonable price. Not sure I could peice togehter a 5.3 with the right stuff.
