Default LS1 steam vent spider?

Hey guys.

I'm talking about the thing that goes under the manifold on the LS1.
Anyone have a spare?
I'd like to put one on the Nova.

I have somehow managed to lose a head gasket already, and as long as I have to remove the intake and heads, I'd like to add one, just in case.

A used set of ARP studs for the 04 and later engines would be nice too......

I also have a buddy looking for a complete 6.0 as well if anyone knows where one might be lurking...

I think I might have a spare coolant crossover somewhere, I'll take a look tonight when I get home. Or you could make your own... http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...lant+crossover

A lot of guys on Yellowbullet are having great success with the ebay (Chinese) head studs and large amounts of boost... They're only around 70.00 too.

Let me know in the crossover. I like the factory approach. It bolts on!

I have the eBay studs. I've found 2 so far that have loosened....

Good to know on those studs. I plan to run them on my budget 6.0 for the Tahoe. You're the first I've heard that have had them loosen up. I have heard of some of the threads on the nuts stripping out before reaching torque spec.

I had to dress some of the threads before install. It was clear that they came loose in a big box from overseas before being repackaged here. Kind of bothered me that the threads were so easily damaged. The ARP that I used in the vette were of course perfect.

I torqued the pro-comps to 75 ft/lbs in steps with the arp lube. So was surprised that a couple took another 1/8 turn or so? I haven't gotten to the drivers side head to check yet.

I put the studs in the block snug by hand. I believe that is the correct procedure.

I guess I wonder if they may be soft and stretched? ARP will give piece of mind, even though we get bent over on the price.

I have a crossover tube. Its a bit dirty but you can have it if you want to come get it. I think this one is from a truck but it should work fine with your Edelbrock intake.

You're correct on the studs being installed hand tight. I usually put a couple ft/lbs on mine just to make sure its not hung up on threads or bottomed out on top of some rust/scaling etc. Then back it off and re-tighten by hand.

I like ARP's stuff, there's no question the quality of the product is second to none. I do however think alot of their products are grossly overpriced because there is no competition within certain niche markets. Duramax head studs are nearly 600.00...... for studs!!!! That to me is price gouging,, plain and simple. IMO competition is good for consumers. Do I wish that competition came from here in the U.S., of course. But I will continue to explore other alternatives when it comes to stretching my hard earned money.

My .02.
