Which ORR Race this year?
http://www.openroadracing.com/
Being a rookie, the Wendover race sounds good....cooler weather, fewer turns & no crickets. But I know some people like that 20 mile straight away at the end of the PE.
And having a few of us go together was fun!I just need to know what you guys are thinking so I can get my son lined up, buy a trailer, figure out my tow rig, minor stuff like that.
But I will say that Wendover is a fun run. Much more technical than many of the other events (baring SHORR and BBORR). The ammenaties are much nicer there than in Battle Mountain as well. If I had to choose between the 2, I would say the B100 would be the one to do.
You will have to start out in the Touring class, you MIGHT be able to get away with the bottom of the stack in the Grand Touring class. This might be dependant on if you have had any real driving schools.
Don't make me hurt you.....wait, can I borrow your car then?

I DO like going to new venues and trying new stuff out so I'm not opposed to running the B100 . The PE130 WOULD allow us all a little more time to get our tow vehicles/race vehicles etc prepared since it's later in the year ? At Hooters the other night it sounded like there would be 3-4 cars going down, some to race, some to watch etc. If sardog46 goes that'd be one more. I gotta tell you guys who've never been to one of these events that there's nothing else like it in the world. NOTHING. Just wall to wall car guys (and girls) who love to drive fast, some low budget, some unlimited, some very young and some pretty old but all there for the same reason ... to go really friggen' fast. The partys are something to remember
I highly recommend it to any car guy. Boyce I could get your car race ready for the price of yesterday's dirt. You know you wanna go and NO I don't wanna hear about no baby excuses

The guantlet being thrown down
BTW if I remember correctly I'M the one who got YOU involved in this sport
now here you are tryin' to back out of a run. All you need is a cam and lifters. You find the lifters and I'll give you the cam Are you EVER gonna match the top speeds in my bolt on car ? lol !

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I know when I was in school my worst subject was math. So maybe you can help me.
Here is a list of the parts that are require to get my load running again
Cam, Lifters, Push Rods, Intake, TB, Headers, Tires, Rocker arms. And I still havent cracked the bottom end open to see what kind of damage is in there.
Then I have to come up with Entry fee, room, board, booze, fuel, food. Fuel alone on the last trip was north of a 500.00 bill.
If you can throw all that together for the price of yesterdays dirt. Then sure, I will show up and take ya to school

I'll do what I can but thae wallet is painfully light right now.
. O man what I knew back then! But it's kinda weird, It was my childhood dream to run in that and now i have a car capable of it...Might have to try it out.I always walked around the cars and was like :o Gimmie. I have pictures from one about 5 years ago. Who knows might have pictures of your guy's cars.
2) Lifters: Can get stock for cheap

3) headers ? Bolt my stock manifolds on and go. You wanna race or impress ? 170 mph feels the same no matter what exhaust is under the car.
4) Rocker arms ? Get used stock for $25 or so. Mine have worked perfectly
Here's the 1st set I came across

5) You sold your intake and T/B ?
That's a biggie alright. However lot's of people on this board have upgraded to Fast/LS2 I'm sure you could swing a smoking deal ??
That's leaves entry fee and trip expenses., which admittedly is not cheap. Just letting you know that it might not be as hopeless as you're thinking and if we all put our heads together I'm sure we can come up with something. It'd be nice to see your smiling ( when you're not working on your car
) face down there again
PS I bet you could turn the Prospeed kit for a pretty penny ? No wait don't do that, what was I thinking

As for rocker arms, there aint NOTHIN wrong with your HS rockers buddy. I don't care what anybody says. The stupid Comp R lifter is what failed! Right? So use them. And I'll buy you a set of Manley pushrods if that's what it takes.
So from my perspective your pretty much down to headers & trip $$. And the race is in August. Anything cna happen between now & then.
And why do you want to get rid of your rockers? If you're looking for stockers, I'd be more than willing to swap my stock rockers for your HS rockers and pay you some cash that you think is fair for the swap.
As for an ORR event, I'd be up for taking a trip down there to at least watch... as long as I can get out of work, that is.
The HS arms were sold a while ago.
Sardog, when you did your weight reduction, did you pull your heater core? If so, how did you go about fillin the big *** hole? If you used sheetmetal, any way I can get a template of that?
The HS arms were sold a while ago.
I commute up to Redmond every day for work, and you work in Bellevue, right? I'm sure we can hook up sometime during the week and I can give you those things...
