Default Fuel Injectors

I can't remember who was asking me about injectors the other nite, but it so happens one of the sponsors is having a GP right now.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-sales-specials/258134-fuel-injectors-sale.html

Prices look pretty good too. For most of us, the Bosch 30lb-ers would be fine (aka Ford SVO 30s). For whackos like sardog, the 42s are a good choice. You can go to this website & click on the fuel inj worksheet to determine what injector you should run for what hp you have. LS1s run about 58psi.

http://www.rceng.com/

Note - my stock 26.6lb-ers are running in the 100% duty cycle range at my hp rating, which is NOT good. You want to stay at 80% or less. Yes, they CAN handle it, but it can cause starvation at hi rpms, or worse - it can heat your fuel which contributes to detonation.

If you have a question, I would ask Ellis or Don B or Ryan or John B or Bill. They know more than I do about what the right choice is, AND why.

I have found sticking with the same style injectors your car came with make life WAY easier

For you guys that means the skinny ones

I've found it easiest of all to leave your engine completely stock and never change anything ...... LOL ! I guess my "only bonestock LS1 in the world" record run is about to change though. It's a good thing you guys have all paved the way for me

well I guess I should expand.

When you change the "Type' of injector I mean From the DELTEC-II you guys have now to a SVO/Bosch or other style. The reason is they do not react the same to a tune or pressure changes(not AS big on LS1). This means to get a GOOD reilution and dead on tune you need to spend weeks or monthes totally dailing in a Tune for an Injector.

Here is an example. On the Corvette we used MSD injectors. they are Rochestor injectors just like the Factory used on our cars. We dailed in the tune ,dead on , in 4 hours and five dyno runs

How many here can say that

Here's a possibly stupid question .... Can I stay with the same "type" of injector while moving up in size ?? I've never looked into it at all. It seems most of the people I know switch over to the Bosch style ??

yes you can. as a matter of fact one of the hottest injectors out right now is a 60Lph injector in the LS1 style

BTW most go with the SVO / Bosch because they are dirt cheap

I have the Bosch 42# ers. Those were the ones James recomended for me. I paid like 350 and that was a great price this past summer. James nailed down the A/F pretty quick but they are tuff to tune according to him.

Motrons = 60# wow. I would like to know the duty clcle of my 42#'s. I think I have lots of room to grow with them.

To clear up the differences, ours are printle style injectors, and Bosch's are disk style, correct? So as long as we stick with high impedance printle style injectors, we should have an easier time tuning? And less performance issues? (Motrons & Accels are this type)

Well now I know something very important haha ! I think I'll stick to the pintle style myself. Un-necessary tuning headaches are soooo .... un-necessary ....

And it appears that the more I learn, the less I know....again. The stock injectors on my car are the Disk type, the skinny ones. (true for all LS1s I've looked at) I think this is also what is referred to as a Delphi. Were as the Bosches or SVOs that many people recommend, are the printle type or fat ones, and what I bought.
