Geebus Chriminey, what was that moron thinking? Did he even bothger looking at the cam before he sold it to you Rick? That thing looks like it has 100k miles on it! I certainly hope he gives you the $ back.....

You should monitor his posts to see when his motor blows. He had to have a lot of loose metal particles floating around in his oil. For quite a while too. One look at theat tells me to never run a Comp Cam (tho he could use cheap oil too). But don't they grind a lot of cams for other people? If so, how do you avoid it? Buy Futral, TSP or LG?

He's been very cool about refunding my money and taking the cam back from the get go. Nice guy to deal with in a situation like this so I'm not the least bit worried about anything. I'm going to ship it back this week. He had some shop replace it with another one. That shop should have let him know something was wrong. I'm wondering if his lifters are in the same shape as the cam lobes?

The lifters have to be toast also. I hope he got new ones....I wonder if his springs were binding?

I've been in contact with him. After he saw the pix I took he parked the car until he can check it out. I'd be at the shop that did the work with a shotgun.

So I'm thinking about one of the Lingenfelter grinds now.

GT2-3? Sounds like your kind of cam, good lift, medium duration, very mild idle.

maybe, it's got a lot of lift, dunno about that one with my 1.75's.

if i could get the GT2-5 on a 114 I'd be all over it.

right now, im thinkin i'll just install the rockers and springs, get some QTP's and a Y pipe and be done with it for a while. that should be high 12's.

Well, here's my list of contenders for the new cam.

Lingenfelter:
GT2-5: 222/222 566/566 on a 112
GT2: 205/212 540/540 on a 116.5

Texas Speed:
220/220 564/564 on a 112 or 114
224/224 566/566 on a 112 or 114

Crane:
210/218 531/531 on a 114
216/224 551/551 on a 115
220/220 551/551 on a 112

Lunati:
212/221 510/510 on a 116
218/221 526/534 on a 116

I would narrow it down to these 3 myself. THinking that you want a more streetable mannered cam, and you are going to run 1.75 rockers on it. AND from what I've seen, these stock-ish LS1s seems to respond better to a cam with more exhaust duration. The Crane would give you about the same thing I'm running.....without the nasty lope & idle issues.

I've been leaning towards that Crane grind too. If I do that I think I'll sell my Pro Mag 1.75's and try out the new Crane variable ratio roller rockers to match the cam.
