Default 4.11s YAY!!!

I finally did it... They're going in of Friday by Randy's Ring and Pinion along with a T/A cover. For those who already have 4.11s, how is the SOTP effect? My car is a M6 with 3.42s

Night and day difference... the car will feel much more lively and light in the rear end. It'll get up and scoot now!

I would have suggested going to NW Differential.....FAR superior shop! But you will like the gears, no doubt about that. You will notice & the car should be 2-3/10ths quicker.

Car will have a new attitude. GM should have set the car up this way in the first place, you actually can use 6th gear.

NW Differential did mine great shop. When Eric had his T/A done I believe he used Randy's and was happy.

Now Mark, what did you get done at Randy's that makes them no good??? Randy's has a shop that you can damn near eat off the floor and has a nationwide distribution system. Class act.

I've been thinking of that mod, just worried that my stock rear will turn from glass bowl into an eggshell...

If you don't mind, how much it cost?

I had the complete rear end rebuilt and it was $950 and some change out the door. This was with the 10% discount for saying I was a WWF member.

Yup, that's how much I spent. I knew Randy's shop for a while before this and they did some work on my wife's Isuzu, very hi quality service, I'm happy with them.

And I am very happy with the 4:11s too. I'll take the car on the freeway today for the 1st time, lets see how it goes. I'm following their breaking in instructions exactly. So far these OEM 4:11s are more quiet than the stock 3:42s I had before. Bearings were changed, etc... awesome!

I had a shop in Hawaii quote me $1500 to put 4.11's in my 79 Firebird. I laughed in their faces, and went online and bought the gears, bearing set, shim pack, and a magnetic base dial indicator and did my gears myself. I think I spent about $500 on everything.
