Your nuts for wanting a black car. My first and last. I'll never own another black car again.

1 Rick w/1 Black Formy. I'm good to go! I think me and Zeke are the only 98-02 formys here.

I do believe you're correct there...

Ground effects and big spoilers are for ricers.

Well the original question was who lives on the Eastside of Seattle.

I live in Redmond on English Hill and I drive a black car mines in the garage undercover and still hard to keep clean. Eric was giving me some crap about my engine compartment being dusty Saturday night and I had just waxed the car a couple of hours before driving out to Monroe.

It's just off Highway 2 in Monroe...

Quizno's
14961 Chain Lake Rd
Monroe, WA 98272

From Kirkland... take I-405 North... and then get off on 522 towards Woodinville... Take it all the way into Monroe and it will merge with Highway 2.. You wanna take Highway 2 East. It will be a left turn at the end of Highway 522.

Once you're on Highway 2 then get in the left lane, and take a left on Chain Lake Rd. There will be a US Bank and a Mexican place (I believe it's called Ixtapa) on your left immediately before the light.

The Quiznos is on the right up elevated from the road, right next to the gym place...

Actually seems the Monroe site is a pretty central location for most. We several cars coming in from the north, Marysville, Everett, Lake Stevens from the south and the Eastside. From Kirkland you can pretty much take the freeway 405 to 522 probably less than 1/2 hour, or cut across 124th though Woodinville/ Duvall on the back roads which is a nice drive.

It's not too bad for a lot of us... some of the guys live in Monroe... Honestly it's just a location where the owner is cool with us being there and nobody is there causing trouble.

I live in North Bend and it's only about 30-35 miles for me.

mostly just hang out and talk cars... we're trying not to cause too much trouble so we can keep this a regular thing and not get bothered by "the man".

On the issue of "why" there are meet ups...

Some of us are older than dirt round here and we used to do the meet ups (and crusing) well into the 70's. Then cars went "economy" = ricers but not fast ones, like the Mazda 626. There wasn't much to show or discuss, the cars being pushed out were pure crap. Now the major car marketers along with the many shows on tricking out a car have brought new life into a very old past time. Its pretty cool in a way though a grudge match is handled pretty much on the track as opposed to what were endless flat roads in the middle of the boonies - about 10 miles outside any major city anywhere. Ummm, this doesn't address smoking ricers on the freeway...that is an entirely different discussion

It was purely to meet up with other gearheads and flex a little muscle, drool a bit, and spend endless hours in our parents garages trying to make it louder, faster, and as garish looking as possible. Check out this tidbit from a google search:
Glasspacks and other nostalgia

Q: I grew up in the '50s and '60s and in those days, having a V-8 engine with glasspack mufflers was something to be proud of and envied. I am now in my 50s and considering again this possibility. I may in the future, purchase a V-8 pickup truck. Is it possible to have these dual exhausts installed by the dealer without affecting the warranty or must it be done after market? If so, would it void the warranty and more importantly, how would it affect performance?

A: I doubt that you will find a car dealer that will install custom duals unless it is a factory option, but you may find numerous exhaust shops willing to do the job. Unfortunately, duals will probably do little to improve performance since the catalytic converter is the major restriction in the exhaust system and it is well ahead of the mufflers. Glasspacks may, however, sweeten the exhaust note. I feel that such a modification should not void the warranty any more than installing different mirrors.

Hope that answers the question "why do you do this?" OR "are you people insane?!"
that answer would be "yes"

So just to keep things nice and confusing, it looks like we have 3 black Z28s with C5 wheels, plus we have 3 Jasons... but only one drives a black Z28 with C5 wheels.
