How this for a before & after
This hood was a pretty big challenge.
1. Wash, clay, wash.
2. Rotary buffer, wool pad Hi-Temp extreme cut paint leveler.
3. Porter Cable Menzerna Intensive polish
4. Porter Cable Menzerna Final polish
5. Toped with Zaino.
Well break is over better go finish rubbing off the rest of the car.
That car looks 100times better.........I'm going to be afraid to take it out my garage. I guess when its time to pick it up i owe everybody a night at hooters
. Jimbob, cory, you ellis and whoever else sticks their hands in it.....How is the passenger side ground effects look.
I guess this means I get to keep it nice and shiny when it comes home
Oh, I am sure you all are wondering ... I am Angi, the OTHER name on the title of that car
and the one who talked Tom into going thru with the purchase in the first place
Incidentally that also makes me Ellis' li'l sis
I can't wait to see it after steve gets done with it though, he's got the magic touch!

As for the ground effects ... well I still contend that was not fully my fault! I already knew that it was thru the paint, tho
I knew that when it happened. I should have told the insurance agent that someone threw a rock at me tho, then they would have fixed it! As for the ground effects ... well I still contend that was not fully my fault! I already knew that it was thru the paint, tho

I know the feeling though, with my V6 I had a guy run me into the curb and he took off so fast I didn't have a chance to catch him. Messed up my wheel and I was soooo mad! IT all MAKES sense NOW. I am a little slow. I should have you do my hood.
Again nice work Steve!
I am afraid when I use the rotary buffer with a wool pad, very similar to polishing aluminum the rotary buffer generates heat to buff out the scratches and if your not careful you can burn an edge. I enjoy working on a car like this, kind've a challenge, but like you an aluminum if it was a job it would suck
I used Zaino as the topper, leaves a great shine and last a long time great stuff.
What got the scratches out was the Hi-Temp extreme cut paint leveler. I used the paint leveler instead of rubbing compounds which are kinda like liquid sand paper. The paint leveler does the same job with chemicals rather than abrasives and in theory should be easier on the paint. I then used the Menzerna products to polish the paint. And finally topped it off with Zaino.
Zaino is good stuff you will enjoy using them.

What happened is there is this incredibly stupidly shaped and placed concrete block in the parking lot of a casino in Yakima (Thunderbird, formerly The Caravan Tavern) that is about 24" tall on one end and tapers down to about 6" tall on the other, and it is right by the front parking. I was trying to negotiate around it when I bumped into it.
Then of course our insurance said that since it was a "one car accident" it was subject to a $500 deductible instead of $50 ... well, now, I don't keep $500 laying around (and if I did the kids would just eat it!) sooooo ... anything Steve can do with that hideous mess is better than what we can!
