Default How this for a before & after

Not sure my digital will show the big difference.

This hood was a pretty big challenge.

1. Wash, clay, wash.
2. Rotary buffer, wool pad Hi-Temp extreme cut paint leveler.
3. Porter Cable Menzerna Intensive polish
4. Porter Cable Menzerna Final polish
5. Toped with Zaino.

Well break is over better go finish rubbing off the rest of the car.

The ground effects looked better after I washed it a couple times and zaino'd it,(yeah, believe it or not, that car has/had a coat of zaino on it about a month or so ago) but they still have some pretty big white scrapes (through the paint) can't buff those out..

I can't wait to see it after steve gets done with it though, he's got the magic touch!

Glad to see you joined also Angi! This is a Great group of people to hang out with!

Oh, I have been lurking for weeks, just never had anything to say until now!

As for the ground effects ... well I still contend that was not fully my fault! I already knew that it was thru the paint, tho I knew that when it happened. I should have told the insurance agent that someone threw a rock at me tho, then they would have fixed it!

Yeah ain't that the truth I know the feeling though, with my V6 I had a guy run me into the curb and he took off so fast I didn't have a chance to catch him. Messed up my wheel and I was soooo mad!

I was wondering why that did not look like your car, dummy me, I thought it was. I was thinking why are you doing your hood again, and why was your hood looking that way lol. Your expanding the hobby !

IT all MAKES sense NOW. I am a little slow. I should have you do my hood. Again nice work Steve!

Just like polishing aluminum. I am afraid when I use the rotary buffer with a wool pad, very similar to polishing aluminum the rotary buffer generates heat to buff out the scratches and if your not careful you can burn an edge. I enjoy working on a car like this, kind've a challenge, but like you an aluminum if it was a job it would suck

Zaino is great stuff but to answer your question it is not really the result of Zaino. I had bunch of steps to get to Zaino.

I used Zaino as the topper, leaves a great shine and last a long time great stuff.

What got the scratches out was the Hi-Temp extreme cut paint leveler. I used the paint leveler instead of rubbing compounds which are kinda like liquid sand paper. The paint leveler does the same job with chemicals rather than abrasives and in theory should be easier on the paint. I then used the Menzerna products to polish the paint. And finally topped it off with Zaino.

Zaino is good stuff you will enjoy using them.

You need to bring that mighty Swift over I'll do half the hood then sit back with a cold beverage and watch you do the rest.

I do need to do that then I can tackle my SS grill. Heck I should experiment on the Swift myself, I do not car what happens to it. It is alway nicer to learn the correct way first.

Man that hurts me just looking at it! I have to say what both saved and wrecked our ground effect was the fact that it is a fiberglas pop-in. Fiberglas of course meaning there are gouges but no denting, and pop-in is what caused there to be such bad gouges. I was unaware that I had hit the stupid piece of concrete until I heard it gouging ... there was zero feeling of resistance.

What happened is there is this incredibly stupidly shaped and placed concrete block in the parking lot of a casino in Yakima (Thunderbird, formerly The Caravan Tavern) that is about 24" tall on one end and tapers down to about 6" tall on the other, and it is right by the front parking. I was trying to negotiate around it when I bumped into it.

Then of course our insurance said that since it was a "one car accident" it was subject to a $500 deductible instead of $50 ... well, now, I don't keep $500 laying around (and if I did the kids would just eat it!) sooooo ... anything Steve can do with that hideous mess is better than what we can!
