Default Changing plugs... ?

Is having the front only up on ramps enough room to get to the #8 plug from underneath? I've never actually changed plugs on a car before (the sc was too much of a pain in the *** so I paid someone to do it and it was still 3+ hrs for the ford tech to do em)

I've got the front end up on ramps right now letting the engine cool for a bit before I start working on it so any tips would be great.

At the same time I'll be deleting the EGR and AIR systems, have the block off plates... err somewhere around here they were right next to me

B4 my car had headers the #8 was "easy" enough to get off that way........so long as your car isn't lowered too much you should be ok........oh yeah, and if your forearms look like tree trunks, you may wanna get someone with skinnier ones.

THat should be enough clearance to get #8. I found a stubby ext helps on some plugs. And a swivel head ratchet. You'll porbably need to remove the coil pack on the pass side too....unless you like your forearms looking like hamburger. And the rear bolt (there are 5 holding it) is a ***** to get out. You'll need a 10mm 1/4" drive to get it. And THROW IT AWAY once you get it out!

i think i got more tore up from trying to get the coil pack off than anything else, and getting at it from the bottom wasnt realy an option as the bolt flange from the exhaust manifolds was in the way so we had to go in from the top it was actualy easier with mine and the LT's though.... oh and my arms and hands were actualy bleeding this time.

Your future as a hand model is seriously in question Looks like it was a good time for a change on those plugs.

Would it make you upset to know that my truck only took about an hour and no one really got dirty (Jim watched me and I did them all from the top) That included gapping and putting the anti-seize on. Trucks ARE the new muscle cars

bastard lol yeah thanks again rob as this was my first time changin plugs on any car lol I was a lil lost. and yeah the coil pack was the main culprit in dicing your arms. What can i say cars are vampires both for blood and money.

oh and I think I'm about to hit 105,000 miles lol sheesh factory clutch dies at 99,970 miles and I'm changing the plugs for the first time at 104k... if only I'd bought the car new they'd have been done sooner lol. Those wires were a pain to get off lol

Damn you guys have that much trouble with the LS1?? Be VERY glad you never had an LT1 your hands would be stumps!

Those plugs look good but I'd definately replace them sooner, maybe its just the pics but that gap is testing the wonderful ignition system these cars have

I changed my plugs in about an hour and a half when it had 10k on it. I didn't think it was as bad as everyone made it out to be. The hardest thing for me was getting the darn #8 spark plug wire off, it was stuck on there pretty good.

One thing is if you pop out the rubber seal around the cowl, the little meat grinding knife things on the bottom won't cut you up.
