Default Nitto DR's Ordered!!!!!

Well I finally broke down and ordered my Nitto's. Should arrive on Thursday, so I will be ready to hit the track any time after that. I decided to wait on the rear gears until I have a bit more loose cash to spend. Plus without traction, different gears would do me no good.

Still have the stock 10 bolt. They were 350.00 mounted and balanced @ Discount Tire in Everett. I know a guy that works there so he saved me a couple of bucks.

I hear that. Fortunately I have an A-4 so it doesn't get hammered quite as bad.

Let me know how you like the Nitto's. I bought some BFG's and couldn't break 2.0 60ft mark. I think its my driving ability, or lack there of. Maybe my second time out I can hit 1.X's

Yeah, I've heard they're pretty nice as well. I'm just scared of ripping out my rear end with something so sticky! DR's give a small peace of mind. I'll put a hardened output shaft in my rearend one day, then just up to the MT's

Yep, DRs should put that car into the 12s. But I still say take your HP cd & cable over & let Ellis play with your tune. Your car is way under-performing IMO. He can tweak that stall like nobody else. I need to do the same thing.....

Glad to hear it doug, you are making one of the biggest improvments you can for the money, should be good for at least a couple of tenths.

Just orderd my new tires and wheels yesterday for when the car goes under the knife in the next few weeks. orderd some weld magnums 15X12 and 15X3.5 spindle type fronts. going to run the same front tires but in the back going to goodyear 31X10.5w slicks, should make for alot of broken parts.

In about two weeks i im takeing the car up o the guys at Southern Style hot rods, and let them get started on ripping out the back of the car, fitting the tubs, putting in the fram and cage work. in about 4 months i should have a car that weighs about 2700# with me in it, then it will be time to start on the motor

Wow Jason, You are really going to town with that beast. When you get it all done and rip off some 9 sec. 1/4 mile times you will have to send some video. I sure hope it gets me into the 12's, but Mark is right, I need a good tune to help it out. I might have gone witth the M/T's but for the money I really couldn't pass up the Nitto's. Can't wait to get to the track.

I would highly recommend the MT's. I was able to put down a 1.56 60ft. with them.

are you using the new MT drag radials? Or the ET Street DOT slicks? I'm using the DOT slicks... I'm hoping to drop to about 1.6 60' or so with some 4.30s instead of my 4.11s to help with my flat spot just after launch.

I have both. The ET Streets are 26 inches tall and the MT DR's are 28 inches. If I come off hard on the DR's, I get that same king of flat spot, but not with the shorter tires. The problems with the short tires is that I run out of rpm. I use a stock computer and it starts pulling gas to limit rpm at about 6100 rpm. The DR's take a different launching technique but they can work as well at the ET Streets (and Hoosier slicks I sometimes use). Incidentally, I have a set of 11 inch wide X 15 Hoosiers, if anyone is looking.
