I'd rather have the front end crinkle up myself then have all that energy transfer to me.

Of course we're all performance oriented guys and of course the MB has some performance to be talked about.

But I see Eric's point. It's not just raw performance, it's the package. It's the name.

In my situation today I can be perfectly happy driving my (soon to be) 400HP+ domestic but I can see myself in a high end car some time in the future. I find it hard that I will outgrow my muscle car though.

Eric, is that what's happening with you? Are you outgrowing your C5? I can understand that because I myself had those thoughts too, they were very transient but they happened when I was sitting in traffic running shitty errands. I thought to myself for a second: "Crap, I would be much less in a bad mood if I was in a quiet powerful German car..."

But when traffic cleared and I floored it those thoughts were gone.

There are some arguments for nice cars.... I test drove a newer Tahoe loaded on 22's as a replacement for the vert, and was thinking hell this is nice....maybe I should get rid of the vette. But at the end of the day I could see myself getting a 99 2 door blazer to replace the blazer I sold to Mikey as a driver and keep the vette.

I am not a believer in a Z06 as a daily driver, a regular C5 maybe but the Z06 is not a go into cruise mode and forget it type car. Plus it is not really plush and comfortable. Especially mine.....

There is nothing wrong with my Z. It's 100% better than my WS6 and is a great daily driver. It just those newer SL55, SL500, E55 even the new C55 are BEAUTIFUL cars. No one is building a more provoking, sexy car than MB's right now. Are they faster than my car? Not all. Can they handle as good? Probably not. Can I afford the one I really want? Not a chance unless I go used. Just something I was thinking about.

I remember you talking about MBs since I first met you. It's your dream machine man, go for it. As long as you keep showing up at quiznos or wherever once in a while for some BSing we won't kick your ***.

I hear ya and I got that same taste being surrounded by them for years when my ex and our friends worked there..........the AMG's are and make you wanna drop everything and buy one........I could EASILY see having a nice one as a second car, but not as a replacement for my TA..........ya know, if I won the lotto or something.

Screw the MB, I'll take a Z06. I stopped to look at one last night, but they wanted way too damn much money for it... $35,995 for a '01 with almost 50K miles on it.... Screw that.

Seaview (Booooo) Chevy has a black '03 for $39,995 with 11k+ miles on it. Seems to me that C5's are getting MORE expensive now that the C6's are out..........how does that work?

You need to look at what year it is. If its an 04 and low miles that isnt TO bad of a price. 01-02 w/ 30K on the clock goes blue book at 32K. Biggest thing about buying a car in this area is being able to see through the bullshit at the dealers. EVERYONE up here charges a premium for everything, why? Becuase 90% of the people here are ******* dumb enough to pay it. Go anyplace else and you will see prices much more reasonable. I watch 01 and 02's go for 30-32K on ebay all the time with less than 15 K on the clock.

EDIT: for an 03 thats pushing it a bit.

Apparently they are reading KBB for their pricing.....retail on that '03 is $44k and private party is $39K.........still seems high but then again, I am a cheap bastard.

Damn dude I'd sell mine cheaper than that and its got 13k miles on it. But the prices do seem to be going up a little an 01 with 40k on it just sold at a friends dealership for 33K. Had it advertised 1 day, first dude that looked at it bought it.

from what im seeing in my search for a z06 is i can get an 02 with 15k on it for around 32-34 depending on where in the country. there is one in texas right now with 14k on it that they want 32.5 for it, and one in washington dc area that they want 32,900 for with ccw wheels and the stockers.
