16+ second quarter @ 140mph! OK, so I was watching football last night with some of my fantasy football league when I come to find out one of them has a 66 Vette in the garage. We start chatting and he says he used to run it in the quarter. I said whats she run? He says the above time. I fell out of the chair laughing. No Fooking way dude! He was adamant about the fact he was running 140 in the quarter on a 16+ second time. He said he's got the slips. I said bring em next monday and lets have a look.
I had to be somewhat nice, but damn dude. What did the five fingers say to the face?

Had a corworker tell me his friend had a hot Nova with a small block. He claimed it would lift the front end off the ground two feet. He also said, in the same conversation that it had so much power it would spin the tires and wouldn't move forward but just smokey all day long in the same spot, without using the brakes. All of this on the same street tires (this was in 1991).

That dude don't know what the hell he's talking about. I'll bet he's never even seen a drag strip let alone ran on one. If a car was trapping 140mph, it would easily be in the low 10's to high 9's.............Some people are so funny.

Yeah, most people have no clue what a 12 sec car feels like. And the magazines that test new cars don't help either. Like the Car & Driver article that says 05 Mustang GTs run 0-60 in under 5 seconds and the 1/4 in low 13s. And then when people go to the track & run low 14s feel cheated. I wish I had a dollar for all the new car owners that said "I KNOW my car should run 12s...."
My car was supposed to run 0-60 in 4.9, and the 1/4 in 13.0 stock. It was 1/2 sec slow in BOTH catagories! And it aint like it was a dog either. With a lid, MAF & y-pipe (then running 13.2s) I beat an SC281 Saleen.
But this guy reset the bar. A 140mph car will easily run low 10s.
