Have fun Ketchican is pretty cool, parts of me really miss Alaska, but I like living in the big city too. Beaverton has a larger population than Fairbanks...WAY more than ketchican!

Ketcikan isnt much unlike us here in Washington Its when you get inland more that you see the change & the BITTER Cold. You should still be having daylight hours there where up in like Fairbanks you dont get much if any this time of year. lol I should know I was born up there even though Its been 26yrs since I have been home.

No fair!
Hubby only gets to go to DC or Colorado or HelLA (or a month in two hurricanes in Louisiana) on the govt's dime.
Its never anyplace fun that I would go along, San Diego would be better than Denver in April.

Mike, might as well join the locals and drink up!

Sure. If you can afford $130 for a half day lift ticket.

The only thing that almost worked out in Louisiana is one of the part suppliers was just a few blocks from where the control center was. They were willing to offer us a little more discount on parts we needed but of course - the federal gooberment didn't pay us unitl 3 months later. They still owe us about 2 grand from that stint so I don't hold my breath anymore.

I am sure I could manage to find a way to get a cheaper lift ticket. And if not, I would spend it to check it out....some of the best U.S. skiing (so I have heard) is in the Colorado/Utah areas. So If I was planning out a vacation...and you look at it realistically....how much does a day at Disneyworld, or a day sightseeing in NY, DC, etc cost for one person? At LEAST $130 if not a lot more with food and crap.......so to me, it is no big deal as I LIVE to ski and don't mind paying for it.

Naw, its cheaper than that for us daily anywhere (per deim covers two of us cuz we are cheap) but getting to and from the less expensive slopes was almost a days drive. And the whole live to ski thing.... I used to but I haven't been on the slopes for a good 12 years. If I'm goin' its gonna be on a snowboard!

Those casts on both legs get to be the expensive part...at least at my age it is

I hear ya....I stopped "living to ski" about the same time as my injury (go figure) but I tried again about a year ago....was a blast till I hit some ice in the late afternoon and cracked my head on the truck of a nearby tree.....concussions take a lotta fun out of skiing.

I need to buy a helmet........and to think, I was laughing at my friend who had a helmet.......my how times change.
