Default Help me find a corvette

Hey all, I'm looking for a C5 vette at a local dealer. Mainly I want to test drive one before I buy one. If the dealer can make the right deal, then I'll go ahead and trade. Anyways, none of the local dealers on this side of the water seem to have any vettes.

So if you know of any dealers that have one, let me know the name of the joint, and the location.

Thanks
Derek

What year range, color, mileage, transmission, etc are you looking for? There are ALWAYS used C5's in the Lynnwood/Everett area at stealerships.

Heck, there is an '01 Z06 with only 19k miles right here for (asking price) of $35k.......dunno how that shakes out against others but it looks nice, black, etc. I know the '01's were lower power (by a lil) but it all depends what you are looking for amigo.

I'm looking for a 97-00 coupe or FRC. I'd like to spend less than $25k. Must be an M6 though.

check autotrader to see what the market is like. I think Coupe/FRC for around 25k is pretty doable.

FYI - FRC's started in '99. It may be worth buying an out of town car. When I looked a couple yrs ago I almost bought a flawless 99 FRC blk/blk, 6 spd, 66K on car, 32K on motor (had a built motor then put orig back in), carbon fiber mini tubbed, lowered, and stainless brake lines for $25K. Check out corvetteforum.com.

they aren't worth that much anymore man, since there is the new body style out and being a V8 with high gas prices should decrease their values

The problem is (and prolly always will be) that Vette owners (and dealerships) think/believe that their cars are worth WAY more then the market will bear........along with many other types of cars......but with vettes (just looking today on autotrader) the prices for C5's still seem extremely high.

The Z06 holds a price better than the standard C5. I bought mine a couple years ago from Friendly Chev, in Puyallup, for $34k. However, I did give them a nice trade in that they surely made money on. On the vette forum the '02 and up are still comanding $32 to $4x depending on mileage/condition. Oh yea mine had about 8/9k miles on it when I first looked at it. Good luck you can't go wrong with a c5 or Z06. remember, if you plan on doing $$ mods to the car, maybe a Z06 wouldn't be a bad deal, as these can be 11.x cars with just DRs.

All models are holding their values Rob. Mine was 30k last yr, and I'm seeing people selling them for 30k-35k this yr w/ identical mileage. To be honest tho, there's a number of reason that our cars keeping their values.

1) The C6 styling is hit or miss, depending on the person and angle, while the C5 has developed quite the fan base.

2) The price of the C6s has increased, out pricing the average joe from obtaining one, but placing the C5 in an ideal position to obtain a CORVETTE at a decent price. Making our resale values increase, since there is a larger consumer base that can afford a Corvette in the 20-35k range.

If your planning on modding tho, I'd say go C5 depending on the extent of your mods. If your planning on really tearing into the motor then go C5 or FRC, but if your looking for consistent low 11s go w/ a cam only ZO6 w/ DRs. 11.x's are not very common w/ stock ZO6s, but you will have those guys like Ranger that are killer drivers and pull out those awesome numbers. Like Rob said tho, either way you go Ack you can't go wrong, C5 or ZO6.

P.S.- Personally, I'd say don't look at any lower than 01. In 02' it seems that GM got the it right, and began experimenting w/ new technology in 03'. (w/ the C6 in the horizon)

I can't disagree. One thing I would like to add, Ranger only beat my time by 2/10ths.
