Guesses?
Any guesses as to why my car is a turd? Have a shift light and used it. Cut my 60's down to 2.2 , 2.1 from 2.4 and didnt mis a shift. Shifting at 6k rpms.
Should I up the rev limiter to say 6500 rpms and shift at 6300 rpms instead?
Theres got to be a reason for my poor track times
Oh ya threw an SES light but I'm pretty sure thats because I removed the secondary air system.

2.1 isn't too bad for normal street tires, especially if it's lowered without LCA relocation brackets etc..
Aside from that, unless your car is a complete TANK, you should be trapping 116+mph.
Also, and this may seem crazy, but I had an issue with my floor mat one time. It was getting under the throttle pedal and not letting the car get to WOT.... just something I thought I mention. Couldn't figue out why the hell my car was only trapping at 109 when I was used to trapping at 114 lol...

How do you leave the line? Have stickies on?
You should be side stepping the clutch around 5K with good stickies to get a good 60ft in a stick car.
What rear do you have? The above should only be done with a 12bolt or 9inch.
Shifting way to early too. Take it to at least 6400. My mostly stocker shifts at 6k.

I guess I could change over to an auto and take the driver out of the equation but I like the stick.
I'll raise my rev limiter and shift at a higher point.
I'm having traction issues off the line but most people think I should still be trapping at a higher mph for the power my car has. I'll see what happens with the shift point change. At least I'm consistent in my times and speed which has to indicate some consistency to my driving. Slow or not I'm consistent.

Well ya still have to get the thing down the track but no doubt its a lot easier with an auto. Mash the pedal and keep it straight. I've had 2 other cars that I ran but both were autos. A 72 Chevellle and a 71 Challenger. The Challenger at least had a slap stick in it which made it more fun to drive.
Honestly I'm not that pissed about the et ( I know 60's will fix the et) its the trap speed that bothers me. It should be higher is what is felt by almost everyone I talk to.
So thats got to be either a problem with the car or my shifting point. I nailed all my shifts Sat night. My slips are all within 2/10's of each other. Thats not bad driving with just a shift light.

Yes I'm taking my foot off the gas to shift. I just cant make myself keep it floored and bang thru the gears.
So what your all saying is that my 60's are the issue and trap speed is ok. Even for a car with as much power as I have? Its 410 on Toms Mustang dyno which is about 440 or so on a dynojet?
I have an 86 Caprice wagon 15 inch tires. Can I use those rims for some et streets? I'm broke and cant afford to buy anything these days.

108 with a M6 is slow. My nearly stock 00 Trans Am ran a 13.11 at 108, it maybe had 320 hp. I also had 2.1 60 foots. But, I have no idea besides listen to other advice on how to make it go faster. I know mine was mostly in the 60 fts, the fact I use my clutch and don't keep it floored while I shift.

in my formula that had ~330rwhp I ran a 12.8 @ 109 w/ 1.9 60' time, that was lifting the gas while shifting. I was also running 106mph in 105* heat (no exageration either) So your speed is way off for you power level. Also, I went from running a 13.6 to a 12.8 without doing anything to the car! Just practicing and improving my driving skill. M6 BTW.
Overall though, your speed and et sound in check with each other......just not for the power level you have. Figure out what's wrong with the car.

ellis you need to teach me how to drive i went to pacific a few weeks back and ran 11.9@119 on the motor but it was my first time out in 2 years. hey 99 lets pull that motor apart also i saw another post you are having problems with your window switch well i had the same prob and here is the solution. it needs to be setup 5v and you need to cut the wires to configure it as a 4cly. you should have had to do it for a shift light as well

The car still pulls pretty damn hard so I guess I can drive it for a long time the way it is. Sooner or later something worse might happen though? Tom said something about rings maybe.
