The other pinks car is being buildt by a friend of mine in Olympia. 79 Malibu another guy I know donated the car, sponsors have really stepped up, was at the shop yesterday, new alu. heads, H beam rods, Knife edge crank, tires the UPS truck stops everyday with more goodies. I think you can go to Horsepowerconnection.com for more info, thats his web site, their building the cage right now lots of people want to be involved its way cool.

Sounds cool but I think Killer Customs is really coming to the plate. 69 Camaro > 79 Malibu

I've seen a Killer Customs 69 pro touring car, they build nice stuff, but if you have seen Pinks the best car doesn't always win. If you have a plan and a good negotiator anyone can win. The body style makes no diff. what so ever.

It does if you are the guy who wants to win a car........personally, I wouldn't race for the chance of winning a 79 Malibu, but that is just me.

I'm just looking at the $$ on the table. A built 69 will be worth $25K plus whereas the 79 Malibu will be less. I'm guessing that they will build a nice turbo setup since they are big into that.

I agree with you guys on the 69 vs 79 thing but I've seen several mismatch pairs on Pinks. I was just at Brian Macy's shop he talked to the producer this morning, and their not sure who will race who yet. There will be four cars from this area, he wants em to run 10.50 all motor, power adders can be used. He said they want to get away from 10-15 car length races.

First time posting, long time lurker here.

Stopped by Shawns place here in Everett last weekend and Bill, the guy that builds engines there said his car was going to be in Pinks. He has a 67? Camaro that he races in Monroe and I guess wins regularly there.

No, it's an 1/8 mile drag car that when I saw it run, would be a low 10 sec car judging by it's mid 6 sec 1/8 (by my count, there aint no clock at Monroe). Unless he changes his setup, he'd have trouble with Ellis or Ryan, much less what is being built for this show. That said, I have a faith that Shawn will bring a runner!!!

That guy's a hick. His wife runs the starting line and has been described as "mean". They won't let the track run brackets so he always wins the trophy.

On the other hand - he should make good TV

I see. I havent made it out to Monroe yet so I havent had the pleasure of meeting her.

I know he just worked the engine over so who knows.

All I can say is he better be practicing on a true strip 'cause his 1/8 mile tricks will be out the door. I bet 1/4 mile going to feel like a Looooooong ride.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!

We'll see what happens, It should be fun no matter who's racing that night...

Exactly. Plus the looks of a 69 Camaro over a 79 Malibu don't even belong in the same conversation IMHO.

For me it isn't so much a "mismatch" as it is I would just rather have a muscle car from the 60's/early 70's then a wanna be from the late 70's/early 80's ya know? The 79 Malibu is not exactly the hot ticket in MY book. Not to say the people building it aren't making a good car or that it won't be fast, etc, just not MY choice of cars to try & win if I was going to put my car on the line.
