Default Thanks Ellis!!

Thanks again Ellis! It's a totally differnent car now. Feels like there's 4.88's in the rearend until it locks up.

And it smokes the drag radials when stabbing the gas from a stop. Before the converter swap I couldn't get it 'em to spin no matter what I did. Looks like 315 nittos will be in order soon. I hope it hooks at the track.

I'm thinking 12.40's are easily attainable with the headers going in next weekend, if it hooks that is.

That growling noise went away. I moved the lockup to 35mph instead of the 26 in "normal" and 24 in "cruise" like it was set to.

I also changed the TCC DC max entire table to 99 and the TCC DC min table to 90. I read in the HPTuner forum that loose converters growl if the min and max have a big swing between tables.

It seems to like it. There was a bit of very low growling even after I set the lockup mph to 35 until I tweaked the TCC DC tables to the above settings. Think that's ok?

And double thanks for double checkin the verter bolts. It would have bugged me as much as it bugged you. Damned starters!

Right on, Rick! Glad to see you are starting to put some of those mods in that have been collecting dust in your garage.

COOL! Let me know if you have issues getting the converter lock-up tables the way you want em Rick. It took me a while, but I got em just about perfect. And I hear a purple heart is in order for Ellis.

Thanks Howard. No kidding, the pile was getting to be too much to deal with. Much more to go.

Will do Mark. I can see my around town mileage dropping substantially. Takes around 2200 to get the car moving at a decent pace. More than I expected and it's a bit looser than I expected as well, that's just part of the game though. But man, around 3/4 throttle and above it's off like a shot. Compared to the way it was of course. Lost a bit of top end power. The cam and associated parts will take care of that though.

What do your TCC DC max and min tables look like?

Purple heart for the blue beast eh?

No problems Rick That would be the pulsing and vibrating for sure. When we do a full transmission we eliminate PWM lock-up all together

Thanks Mark. I am surviving. My neck feels a little better today There is a nasty cut across my nose to go with it

Ahhh! The light finally goes on upstairs. Purple heart meaning you, or your nose, took a beating and you're not getting a Vigilante. I hadn't had my caffiene I.V. when I wrote that post. Sorry about the cut.

That's awesome....I bet you'll see better times than that. I ran my car last weekend with a tranny that refused to work and I still hit a 12.9 at 106. That was with a baby launch (2.5 STR and street tires) and the tranny bouncing the rev limiter once on the 1-2 shift and continously on the 2-3 shift until I let out the gas and waited for it to shift. So all in all, I was pretty happy with 12.9's. Makes me wonder what a dead hook and a good tranny will net me. Hoping to get all that taken care of in the near future. What's your STR? It takes me about 2000-2200 revs to move with traffic but I can ease along at 1500 if I want to drive like an old man.

I didn't get a STR number from Vigilante. It's supposed to be a 2800-3000 stall. I can foot brake it to around 2600-2700 before the tires start to turn over. I know a good tire warming burnout will be in order now. That wasn't an issue with the stock converter. I might have to step up to a different tire to get it to hook now too. We'll see on the 15th.

I have to get the cooler installed asap as well. My heater runs much hotter than it did before. So there's a substantial amount of more heat being put into the system by the tranny cooler in the radiator. I'm just glad it's cooler weather now or I might have to park it until I could install the cooler.

Vigilante says you don't need an external or additional cooler for their converters. I think they should re-think that.
