I doubt that it's rings, unless you've been beating the **** out of the car, or running without the air filter. But you can run a compression test to find out for sure. Are you using oil?

Most likely it's valve seals. Especially if Bill installed after market rockers when he put in the ASA cam. They have been known to move off-center & side load the valve stems, which can wear the seals out pretty quick.

So you are saying that at 3000 miles, you are down 3 quarts???? Neither of my LS1's burn/ed oil, let alone that much. To me that seems like quite a bit.

LS1s burn oil because they have ~1/2 qt in the valve covers, and the PCV tube sucks it out into the TB. (tho it's usually the ones that have piston slap that use a lot) My stock motor didn't burn enough to notice until I installed some Harlan Sharp rocker arms. Then it started using ~1 qt of oil per 500 miles. When I put the stock rockers back on, it quit.

That must be it as both of my LS1's had/have stock internals.

OK here's an update pulled the drivers side plugs and the plugs themselves looked ok no fouling or anything. Only concern was there was oil on the threads all the way to the seat. Checked the passenger side plugs and they completely normal, no oil. Didn't get a chance to get a compression check done though, but will later this week.

Loose valve cover / bad gasket? With 1/2 a qt in the valve cover, it WILL leak & smoke.

Just thinking out loud here... The only thing that changed was the PCV valve right? Assuming you had no smoking problem prior. Would be hard to believe that all four intake valve seals went bad at the same time. So
the only thing that makes sense to me is that oil is puddling in the intake and you make frequent right hand turns. Check your rear view mirror next time you take a turn at a decent clip and see if you see a puff of smoke come out the back..

I'll try a different PCV, and the valve cover shouldn't be too hard to replace... She's throwin random misfire codes so I wouldn't be surprised if it is PCV related and oil is causin the misfires.
